Very disappointed with this place. I’m not sure why such high rating with this place. Couple reasons why.
If you’re unlucky and you sit outside where they only have the gas stove option for you, forget about getting those broth to boil. We sat there for almost half and hour and the broth is not boiling. We demand for the induction stove option, instead they kept bringing our pot back and forth from another table with no customer. I don’t understand why they would not let us change table with the induction option.
The chopsticks, spoon and bowl is made of plastic. Those plastic chopsticks are rough and looked like some parts of the chopsticks were already dissolved, due to prolong usage under hot temperature. For those who do not know, it is really dangerous to eat hotpot with plastic utensils. I don’t know why they don’t use safer alternative like wood or ceramic.
Very bad customer service. As mentioned they know our gas stove will never bring the pot to boil, and they refuse to make things better. There are still couple of tables empty and they insist we stayed in our table.
In the end, we decided not to continue when there were not viable solution.. we offered to pay in full and leave the place, and when we leave, the broth still haven’t reach boiling point (it’s been under fire for at least 45 minutes). That’s...
Read moreI would rate this TEN stars if I could. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. Been here three times and the food quality has been consistently AMAZING. The herbal tea is only thing that's overpriced but comes with a chock-full of watercress so it's super delicious.
The third time I was there, I brought my parents and relatives because I wanted to show them how great the food was. My mother (being a cancer survivor) was not too comfortable while being seated outdoors in the small seats. The manager/staff moved 8 of us into the VIP room which was coincidentally vacant. The room comes with free karaoke and she ended up having the best time. I cannot thank Hong Kong Hotpot enough for that. We ended up ordering the most expensive beef slices on top of the huge amount of food, and the price was less than 800MYR. I will be a fan forever.
Also, always go for the Sakura pork soup....
Read moreThis place may be pricey but it was for its premium quality ingredients, atmosphere, and location. Overall our party of 7 spent about RM40/pax. Broth we chose: pig bone and sour soup are highly recommended. None of the food we ordered were a disappointment. Being sensitive to MSG myself, I can attest that this restaurant either very mildly seasoned their broth or none at all. It is a small lot to accommodate so many customers that’s why space is a little crammed. But we made our reservation 3 weeks in advance to get a room seating and it was comfortable and private. Service was faster than expected because of a call button in place which is great since we’re isolated in an enclosed area. Parking wise, if you can find a spot along Jalan Telawi, good for you. But to save your time and hassle, pro tip: park in Bangsar Village. It was well...
