I don't often leave negative reviews even if my experience hasn't been the best. However this is a warranted exception. Went for a family lunch and were served by a waiter named Shanto. There were some issues with the orders and some wrong orders were brought out. My wife asked him about the orders but he took on a defensive stance, cutting her off before she could fully highlight her concerns. My wife subsequently left a negative review.
Now this is where things became wholly unacceptable to me. Shortly after the review was posted, my sister in law, who made the reservation, received three calls from the restaurant. The caller begged for the review to be taken down claiming that his rice bowl was in jeopardy. After the constant harassment, my wife relented and took the review down.
I am now posting this after learning of this incident. Everything about the way this matter has been handled is shocking and unprofessional. First, why does the restaurant or person feel it right to harass a customer by calling them on their private number for non reservation related matters. Consent to do this was never given. Secondly, instead of calling to address the issue, the person saw it fit to beg, putting the ladies of the family in an awkward and unjustified situation. Thirdly, I'm troubled by the things that were said by the caller. Saying things like "my job will go" etc is manipulative in my view and is exceptionally unprofessional. More importantly, it makes me think that the management is not open to feedback and responds to anything negative by meting out harsh sanctions on its workers such as by firing them. Surely this cannot be the case. Or is it? Because if it is, I most certainly will not patronise such a place anymore.
I will be clear to the restaurant; do not harass my sister in law any further. If you would like to respond, respond to this...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience at India Gate in Sentul! Here’s a refined version of my review that captured all the highlights while maintaining a friendly and inclusive tone. Today, my friend Shirlyn and I had lunch at India Gate in Sentul, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. We chose to go on India’s Independence Day, which added a special touch to our visit. We were pleasantly surprised with ‘Kesari’ presented in the colors of the Indian flag. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the Thali meal, Cheese Naan, Palak Paneer, and Mutton Biryani (which we took home). The dining experience was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the hospitality was exceptional. A special shoutout to Chandra Sekhar, our attentive and warm server, who made our meal even more enjoyable. At the end of our meal, the restaurant invited us to give a video review. I asked my Chinese friend to help with this, as it’s always great to hear feedback from diverse perspectives. She loved the food and even asked for refills of the Thali meal, which speaks volumes about how much she enjoyed it! The ambiance and vibrant colors of the restaurant transported us to India, making it feel like a genuine experience. I’ve been to India Gate a few times with different groups, and each time has been memorable. I look forward to bringing more friends and family here in the future. Thank you to the staff and management for a wonderful dining experience, and a special thanks to Chandra Sekhar (Chandu) for his warm and...
Read moreExtremely Disappointed with the Service at India Gate Restaurant, Sentul
This was my first time visiting India Gate Restaurant in Sentul with my two kids, and I am extremely disappointed with the service.
From the moment we arrived, no one was there to open the door or welcome us. For a restaurant with such a well-known name, the lack of hospitality was shocking.
After entering, no staff acknowledged us. I had to take the initiative to ask for a seat for 3 people.
Once seated, we waited 5 to 7 minutes just to receive the menu. For a restaurant of this size, this is unacceptable—providing the menu should be a basic and immediate step.
After finally receiving the menu, we waited another 10 to 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Throughout this time, multiple staff walked past us, but none bothered to ask if we were ready to order or needed anything.
What was more frustrating is that two staff members stood idle at the cashier from the moment we entered until we left—doing absolutely nothing.
In the end, I had no choice but to leave the restaurant with my hungry children. The lack of attention and poor customer service ruined our dining experience.
I truly hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves the level of service. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this was a...
