The food was great! The place was jam packed on a Saturday night. Be sure to book for a table preferably a day before. And ask to be placed upstairs because it's air-conditioned :P
Ordered: Curry fish slices : one of the best dishes in my opinion. Curry was delicious when eaten with rice and the fish was fresh. Had lots of eggplant and beans too Nam Yu chicken wing (x6) : my favourite dish of the meal. Tastes similar to Penang belacan fried chicken. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside Claypot tofu : this wasn't too bad, but it wasnt extraordinary either. Tasted like a decent Claypot tofu you would find at other restaurants hotplate prawn + squid : this was somewhat of a mix bag. My mum said it was mediocre and it was quite a small portion for medium. I thought it was good. Prawns we're fresh and squid was Q. ghost beans (not sure what the proper term is. Nice place for a typical Malaysian Chinese ordering-the-dishes restaurant. This is when you order different dishes and eat them with white rice. The food in this restaurant is great. The Sichuan stingray was fresh and packed with flavour; the grilled-pan seafood was buttery yet not overwhelming; the fried prawn and chicken was crispy yet not too hard.
Typical Malaysian Chinese restaurant setting with a cloth over the roundtable. Options for air-conditioned seating or non-air-conditioned seating. Do bear in mine that this place gets full pretty quickly. So if you would like the luxury to pick your seats, or even to get a seat the moment you arrive, consider an early dinner.

Read moreZhen Liu Xiang has been the go-to restaurant for family dinners for years. We ordered almost the same dishes every time we went there. Even if I go there with different groups of people, coincidently, they ordered the same dishes as well. The signature dishes are the curry fish or fish head, the hot plate prawn and/or squid, fried chicken wings, and pork knuckle. The restaurant serves hundreds of these dishes every day; if you order these dishes, they can serve the food in 5-10 minutes - super efficient. So when you are in a rush, and so happen to be around Sentul, you can finish your dinner within 30 minutes.
