This will be a dissenting view among the many glowing praises I've read about this venue - but I'll say it nonetheless: the single biggest problem with KLPAC is ACCESSIBILITY.
I find that getting here is only feasible if you arrive by car/taxi. There are no mass transit options nearby apart from the unreliable service provided by the KTM trains (good luck trying to catch a show on time!). The actual performance venue is actually located further in the compound. So even if you do manage to get here by train, you'd need to walk a considerable distance to get to the main area.
Like another reviewer had mentioned - if you're disabled, or you're a senior citizen, you have every right to feel angry that KLPAC wasn't built to assist you. Sure, the colonial-industrial-chic-inspired complex may look...presentable, but I pity those who need to traverse the uneven terrain from the god-awful parking lot located far away from the hall (oh and guess what, if it rains, and in Malaysia it WILL rain, you'll get to enjoy walking to the main building under their non-existent covered walkways). You'll also have to contend with the lack of good signage pointing which way is which. I also question the need to keep the external grounds surrounding the main building so dim and dark - I get it, it sets a certain "mood" - but it's poorly done, and frankly, darkness = tripping hazard = bad. Light up the area around will ya?
The shows staged here span the conventional to the more experimental, and depending on what you're interested in, you'll find that the performance space and infrastructure is, in and of itself, pretty satisfactory. I find the acoustics of their halls/black box to be lacking in crispness and tends to make (spoken) dialogue hard to discern. You do get better audio fidelity with instrumental or dance performances.
The theatre interior is cozy and welcoming, and one of KLPAC's much appreciated architectural feature is a comfortably large foyer for folks to mingle with the cast, grab some drinks from the bar, and engage in some post-performance chit-chat.
I would not deny that it's still an important landmark for the arts scene to flourish in KL, but I'm generally disappointed that it had to be located in this specific location and not a place where it can reach the masses more easily. If the goal is to provide a physical space where all Malaysians can be exposed and enjoy the performance arts, then sadly, KLPAC falls short of this...

The shows here? Always a surprise and delight. From laugh-out-loud comedies to goosebump-worthy dramas, KLpac keeps things fresh and exciting. And the talent? Chef’s kiss. You can tell everyone on stage loves what they do, and it’s contagious.
Now, let me talk about the Christmas shows. Hands down, my absolute favorite! There’s something so magical about how they bring the festive spirit to life—whether it’s a heartwarming play, a toe-tapping musical, or carols that give you all the warm, fuzzy feels. It’s become a tradition for me, and honestly, it’s the best way to get into the holiday mood.
The space itself is a total vibe—industrial meets artsy cool. Acoustics are on point, seats are comfy, and the whole setup makes you feel like you’re part of the show. Plus, the staff are super chill and helpful, which is always a win.
Bonus points for the workshops and classes they run—perfect if you’ve ever dreamed of being in the spotlight or just want to try something new.
KLpac is more than a venue; it’s a creative playground. If you haven’t been, you’re missing out. Trust me, you’ll leave inspired (or at least with some serious artsy...
Read moreThe venue was well maintained and clean, even the toilets and prayer place were quite comfortable to use. The seating arrangement in the performance hall was distanced and SOPs for the pandemic were maintained through out the showtime. The whole place has an interesting, modern hip vibe to it.
Parking was a bit challenging as the designated parking area for visitors was further off the the back/side of the building, about 200m+ away, no covered walkway to connect the parking area to the main building. I came for a night show and was raining cats and dogs at the time. The parking experience was not too great. I had trouble finding the right toilet area though. Did you all not label the women's and men's or was I just not paying...
