We came as a group of five for lunch at Kampai KLCC on 20 August 2025, and it turned out to be a memorable experience.
The entrance is slightly hidden, almost giving it a “speakeasy” vibe, but once inside the space opens up into a spacious dining hall with large glass windows overlooking the KLCC pond—a calm and scenic backdrop that made the whole atmosphere feel special.
For food, we ordered the Yakiniku Buffet (RM346.85 per pax) for 3 pax and a Sushi Platter for 2 pax, then shared everything among us. It was the best way to sample a bit of everything.
Yakiniku Buffet
The yakiniku set was the star of the meal. It came beautifully presented on wooden tiers, complete with dramatic dry ice smoke and a miniature bull figurine—definitely Instagram-worthy before we even started grilling. The selection included six kinds of A5 Wagyu cuts (chuck rib, knuckle, short plate, boneless short rib, top-sirloin, and top-round). Each slice was rich with marbling, tender, and grilled perfectly at the table. The variety of cuts kept it interesting, from melt-in-the-mouth bites to slightly firmer textures with deeper beefy flavor.
Alongside the beef, the buffet also included beef sashimi, beef tongue (thin and thick cuts), wagyu skewers, and assorted sides. Starters like seasoned octopus (Chuka Idako) and kimchi gave nice contrast before diving into the wagyu feast.
Sushi Platter
The sushi platter balanced things nicely with freshness from the sea. Salmon, tuna, unagi, tamago, ebiko, and other varieties came neatly arranged, and the fish tasted clean and well-prepared. Sharing this with the yakiniku set worked out really well—we could switch between the smoky grilled wagyu and the cool, delicate sushi.
Service & Atmosphere
Service was attentive and friendly, and the team explained the cuts and sides clearly. Despite the premium menu, the atmosphere felt relaxed and comfortable rather than overly formal, which made it easy for us to enjoy as a group.
Overall, it was a very positive experience—great food quality, generous portions, a nice balance between yakiniku and sushi, and a scenic spot by the KLCC park. Definitely a place worth returning to for a special...

Read moreVisited Kampai Yakiniku KLCC for a wagyu buffet dinner with my wife. The environment is cozy and comfortable, but the experience fell below expectations for RM299++ per pax (90 minutes, drinks not included).
Service was disappointingly slow. Starters (salad and kimchi) were only served 15 minutes after we were seated, and the wagyu slices took almost 20 minutes to arrive. When we requested a refill of 2 wagyu sets, only 1 arrived. It felt like they were intentionally delaying or limiting the wagyu servings. I don’t understand why it takes so long just to serve raw wagyu beef slices, especially for a buffet where customers frequently order refills. That said, the wagyu beef was excellent as expected melting in the mouth and the wagyu sushi was also delicious.
However, the service here is completely different compared to Kampai Yakiniku at Bamboo Hills. The Bamboo Hills branch is far superior in terms of speed and service I’ve been there more than three times and always received refills promptly. Unfortunately, this KLCC outlet doesn’t live up to the Kampai Yakiniku name.
To make things worse, we had to wait an unnecessarily long time just to get the bill. The food is undeniably good, but with the limited 90-minute time slot and the very slow service waiting 15–20 minutes just for refills it completely ruins the experience and the overall rating of this restaurant. It’s a stark contrast to the Bamboo Hills branch, which offers a much better...
