I stayed here for 14 days as part of the mandatory quarantine requirement imposed by the Malaysian government for anyone travelling into Malaysia from abroad during the current pandemic. These are my opinion of my time here based on my own personal experience.
ROOM (4/5) I was allocated into what I understand as the Club Premier room. It is spacious - has a king-sized bed, bath tub and a separate shower area, TV, fridge, huge closet, kettle, iron and ironing board, decently sized table for me to work on, and a small hair dryer. Size of the room is big and allows me to workout easily and pace back and forth during my quarantine here.
SERVICE (1/5) Extremely slow! Staple items like change of towels and replenishing of toiletries and toilet paper will not be given to you unless you personally request for it. However, my requests for replenishment of toiletries would always take ages to arrive (request in the morning, arrive in the evening), or require a follow up call. I would personally suggest bringing your own personal toiletries especially if you have sensitive skin.
Since people under quarantine are deemed to be at high risk, there will be no hotel cleaning service provided for the whole of the 14 days.
FOOD (2/5) Person Under Surveillance (PUS) will be served 3 meals daily. Taste of food is average - I wouldn't say that I enjoy the meals but it is edible. The portion of carbohydrate is usually a lot more than the protein and fibre which is not actually very healthy considering that carbs turn into sugar upon digestion. Another huge problem with the food is the time that it is served. I've had my lunch served to me at 2:15pm before, so prepare to have a long wait for your meals. Breakfast is usually served early (before 8am), whereas on an average basis my lunch is served 1:30pm and dinner at 7:30pm. Since the food is served very much later than when it was prepared, by the time it is in front of your door, it has cooled down. So, prepare to consume cold meals for 14 days if you are quarantined here.
In terms of ordering food from outside, I would suggest that you avoid doing so because there is a specific window for the food to arrive to be accepted - between 3pm-5pm. Anything outside of this window is strictly not allowed (ie 2:59pm and 5:01pm). However, even when your food is delivered within that window, the front liners will not serve it to your room until many hours later - by then your food is cold and not fresh. Also, deliveries from outside is limited to halal food only and typically fast food chains like McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway, etc. Tip: Pack your favourite snacks before flying over and at times like these I found instant cup noodles and instant oats very handy. Otherwise, you could request your loved ones to pack dried food and deliver to you.
One bottle of water (1.5L) will be delivered to you on a daily basis with one small packet of instant Nescafe, Boh tea and sugar.
LOCATION (5/5) Since I am staying here to fulfill the mandatory quarantine requirement, I cannot travel around the city centre. However, based on my observation, the location of this hotel is very attractive since it is right at the heart of KLCC. The main attractions are mainly just around the corner and would only require a few minutes walk - Twin Towers, Pavilion Shopping Mall.
CONCLUSION Do not expect a lot when quarantining here. After all you are only paying a capped fee of MYR150/night for a good room and 3 meals. Nonetheless, I hope this review helps set the expectations of future PUS that are...
Read moreWe mentioned and registered for 3 person checking in (2 adult and 1 toddler). we stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. We stayed at room 641 (club room).
upon arrival at 7pm, I do noticed it's peak time, many guests checking in. But I also notice that some staffs at outside of the lobby, inside the lobby were not attentive enough. While my husband had to park the car far outside the hotel area, I had to bring my toddler on stroller along with luggages alone while few staffs roaming outside looking here and there pointlessly seemingly. Had to call one of the staff to help. After checking in, same problem arise. While husband still not arrive from the parking, had to call another concierge staff for luggage assistance to go up room.
poor housekeeping. when we checked in, no hairdryer provided, bath robe/yukata only 1 provided, tea spoon only 1 provided, no hand/face towel in bathroom, no bath mat. I cannot say any more how poor their standard for guests checking in.For all these, I had to call the receptionist to inform (general number 0).I had to call for the hairdryer twice. 30 minutes apart before it got delivered. On our 2nd day of stay, we already put the 'please makeup room' sign since morning we left our room. When returned around 5pm, our room were not done at all. We called the customer service number 0, until the third time. we waited from that 5pm until 9pm. Can you imagine the stench from the trashbin filled with diapers and other toddler food junks etc? All that 3 calls, the call-receiving staff didn't bother to explain the delay. only just said 'soon i' ll inform them' - without explanation or expecting arrival time etc. please2 i do understand if you say you're shortstaffed, but do explain.
poor maintenance of room. the toilet sink was leaking when check in, had to get the maintenance staff to repair until 11PM! He even left the plunger in our bathroom. Since it's midnight already, we dont bother to call him again to take it back.
no telephone number, menus, guest guide whatsoever were put in the room. Only blank notepads/envelope left on the study table. Very not guest friendly. We had to guess what number to call the service for all problems mentioned above (lucky it's the usual 0). We reallly intend to order in room service as the weather outside was bad with a child, but you dont make it easy as there's no menu,no call numbers. of course we'd resort to grab/food panda. Kindly accommodate guests to 'stay and indulge' in your hotel instead of resorting to something else.
poor parking space during peak time. had to park about 200m away at the no roof parking field for 3 days. Lucky, it's a complimentary parking.
the room per se is actually good for the comfort. just when these essentials are lack, they distract us from the total comfort. we stayed at budget hotels, rentals, dont mind much as long as these essentials that you advertised are provided. We dont know if our room is actually a backup room whatsoever when the hotel is full house (we got upgraded without charge when arrived at 6pm,thank you).. but still, every guests and rooms should be treated fairly. We love the pool services, the taste of breakfast food, the comfort of our bed and pillow, the great location. For that, will strongly consider to come back again, but maybe during not so peak time so that these kind of problem wont repeat...
Read moreWe checked in for new year Eve and had quite a unsatisfactory stay.
Pros *Strategic location, it is connected to a pedestrian bridge connecting to klcc (but it was closed on new year Eve so we had to take the route outdoor to Suria KLCC which was around 5 minutes only so it's cool) *Spacious room *Good water pressure for shower *Nice and smooth bedsheet *Offer pillow menu where you can choose your preferred type of pillow
Cons *Lack of car park, however you can park at mandarin oriental or KL convention center where you can validate the parking ticket at the hotel counter (only valid for outdoor parking apparently), we weren't even that late we reached around 3pm and were told to park in front of Mandarin Oriental outdoor parking and it was already full by the time we got there, so we had to park in KL convention center basement parking, ended up having to pay RM30 because parking attendant said ticket only valid for outdoor parking.
*They should've put the car park full sign before the guest make a turn into the hotel and direct us to some other alternatives, most of the guests make a turn into the hotel only to realize there is no parking and having to drive out to the main road again, this had created traffic jam on the road.
*Shower is filthy, the tile grout hasn't been scrubbed for a long time (see photos attached), part of the floor is also slimy, even the toilet drain cover next to the toilet bowl is dirty and full of hair
*Lack of toiletries and water if you have more than 1 pax, the toiletries and water is definitely not enough, just call the front desk to ask for more
*Breakfast buffet has super long queue, we queued for 30 minutes, but the staff were friendly. What baffled me was the fact that the hotel guest queued together with paying customers.
*Small lift, during checkout time there is a very long wait to use the lift, and again long queue to use the lift
*Definitely not equipped and trained to manage large crowd, check in for us was quite fast but check out was slower, staffs look lost not knowing what to do and are all over the place.
*Called room service multiple times and they said they'll called us back but of course they never did, but still got what we requested for 2 hours later.
I think a lot of guests were dissatisfied due the fact that this is not a 2 or 3 stars hotel, so we all have high expectations especially for those who checked in on NEW YEAR'S EVE. And I'm pretty sure a lot of us from that day left feeling very disappointed and wouldn't return again for another stay. As for cleanliness, I'm sure the hotel has peak and quiet season and surely the management arrange some routine deep cleaning when it's the quiet season. The housekeeping team definitely needs better training and supervision. The cleanliness of the shower is so unacceptable especially when there are backpacker hostel or lower star hotel with better cleanliness than them. As you can see, there are more cons than pros for this hotel so I hope the management can read these comments and make necessary improvement. Until then, we won't be back for any...
