Royal egg fried rice - eventhough quiet expensive for the basic fried rice but the taste was full of wok hey n flavourful. The shrimp was not over cooked n still bouncy. U can smell the fragrance of fried rice.
Wok fried beef kuey teow (not in picture) - well seasoned beef but for kuey teow maybe lack of taste. If eat kuey teow with the beef it give sensational taste but if eating kuey teow alone, the taste a bit off. Maybe the beef compliment the taste of kuey teow i guess. Or need some cili potong to enhance the flavour of kuey teow (IDK if they served cili potong or not)
Siew mai chicken dumpling - the taste is not same with frozen one. U can taste a bit of chicken chunck n shrimp. On the other note, the size quite big than frozen sold in supermarket. The dip sauce compliment it n enhance the taste of siew mai.
Szechuan dumpling - i love the gravy taste. U can eat with fried rice or itself. Its not to spicy or salty. The taste so balance eventhough the put carrot n maybe some onion chives to enhance the aroma.
Signature egg custard bun - so creamy n not to sweet. The dough so fluffy. Cautious ehike eat this cause the filling will burst u😅
Prawn cheong fun - the dip sauce not to salty n balance the taste of shrimp. The dip maybe made with fremented shrimp n not to spicy.
Chewy meat croquette - my husband kinda like the taste of it. The dough a bit chewy but manageable eventhough it was fried dough. The filling also nice
Just 1 complaint about the size of glass for distilled water. Its to small for me n i need to ask them to refilled. I guess myself alone about 5-6 times asking for refill🫣. But they manage to refill it cause they mentioned they will refill if customer ask for it
The ambience - nice n cool ambience. Not to noisy n u can eat so calmly with the song they played not too loud.
Overall it was a good experience having my dinner with my husband. Will repeat it next time with my...
Read moreI visited dolly dim sum for the first time today over at avenue k outlet. Chanced upon this dim sum place while searching and googling for top places to go for awesomelious dim sum. Upon knowing that they served halal dim sums, I was curious to find out how would hala dim sum taste like as I have never eaten them before.
Reached the outlet upon touching down from kl and went straight to the place. It was lunch time but the lunch crowd was manageable, didn't have to queue at all before I was ushered in to my seat. The menu was beautifully illustrated and there was certain description that tells the customer what the dim sum consist of.
I ordered their siew mai, Chee chong fun with Crispy prawn, salad prawn, dumplings and custard bun. I must say the dim sums here are okayish in terms of taste but I must give them due credit as the plating of the dim sums were done on point and you can tell that the chef spend a lot of effort on the presentation of the dim sums.
The staff here are all friendly and cheerful. I believe there is this guy supervisor or manager, he will approach you to have small talks in between which I think is a nice gesture. I didn't catch his name but I feel the service level here is top notch.
Overall, it's a nice place to dine in in terms of service level, atmosphere of the place. Will come back and try dolly dim sum if there are newly launched dim sums...
Read moreStaff were kind and service was fast. A good halal dim sum eatery in town with a twist of modern Chinese decors. Great and cozy ambience, suitable for families, friends or even office workers to dine in. Prices are a little on the higher end but then again you are paying for the whole experience (food+classy atmosphere+fast service+friendly staff) which I don't really mind.
The food does taste good and the restaurant makes you feel very welcomed with a slight touch of classiness. Bring your foreigner friends here, they might enjoy dining here more than a typical simple dim sum buffet restaurant concept.
Majority would probably say it isn't the best dim sum out there (since most dim sums places are non-halal certified and uses a lot of pork/lard in it). However for us Muslims it is delicious enough to make us go back for repeats! In comparison to the halal dim sums that are sold at 'Pasar Malam' or night market, Dolly Dim Sum is definitely 10x way better than that! 👍
If you're a fussy eater and expect the dim sums to be as good as the non-halal ones, my advice is don't put your expectations too high since some dishes are not made the same way as the non-halal ones (most probably the original recipe had to be improvised and ingredients substituted with with...
