A Surprising and Satisfying Meal at Lau Bu Jia Kopitiam!
My lunch at Lau Bu Jia Kopitiam was an extremely surprising and satisfying experience! This place is a truly unique eatery, starting with its quirky, hand-written menu where the food is charmingly painted. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a warm, comforting meal at home. The space itself is unexpectedly huge, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, a perfect setting for a relaxed meal. What truly blew me away were the prices—they are extremely cheap and affordable, especially for the quality you get. I absolutely loved the crispy toasties, and the homemade apple and red date drink was a highlight, so refreshing and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness.
I am definitely planning to come back to try more of their menu. A word of caution for future visitors: parking here is crazy difficult, so remember to avoid parking on the yellow line to save yourself a penalty! Despite the parking challenge, this hidden gem is well worth the visit for a satisfying and...
Read moreI had dinner at Lao Bu Jia Kopitiam OUG. Ordered a Rendang Chicken Nasi Lemak while drinks, I had a glass of warm water & Iced Cincau. Total bill: RM18.20, which is reasonable as far as prices goes. The drinks were pretty standard, nothing very special. However, the Nasi Lemak is a different story altogether. Nasi Lemak should come hot and spicy but was served cold and bland. The sambal though looks red & spicy with 0 level of spiciness! The Rendang Chicken was at least lukewarm. However, it very much lack the aroma associated with rendang though there were shredded Kafir Leaves, yet not a hint of spiciness. Overall, would I go there anytime soon? Maybe or maybe not, at least there is an assurance that food will...
Read moreI popped into this little spot while waiting for my wife to finish her hair makeover—because what else are you going to do while your better half is getting glamorous? I decided to try their pumpkin cream dessert, which sounded promising but turned out to be more of a pumpkin puddle than a creamy delight. My wife joined me later and ordered the red bean dessert, which was so diluted it could’ve passed for a bean soup! Not to mention, it was supposed to be served hot, but it arrived colder than my enthusiasm for dessert. Honestly, with such a lackluster experience, I’m not sure I’d want to come back, even if they promised me the best main dish in town. Guess I’ll just have to wait for my wife at the...
