Update (June 2024): The old uncle (Curry Noodle, Chicken Rice, etc stall) has moved to a new nearby location as attached 2nd picture (just opposite after the basketball court the old spot) same row as "Hakka Delights" Prawn Noodle shop since around April 2024. New place is called "Xin Lian Hin". I usually have curry noodles, Pork Noodle and Chicken before renovation. After renovation, the environment becomes much more comfy but prices have increased as well.
Update (Sept 2024): This place has renamed from 'New Lian Hin" to "Restoran Tian Shang Tian / TST" after the split in Business Partnership.
Atmosphere: 4🌟 Air conditioned but still need spots with fans if you are having curry but only few spots has it. I feel "Xin Lian Hin" side is more comfy and perhaps less noisy as this place is still quite packed after 1pm.
Food: Curry Noodles 3.5🌟(3rd picture) It's nice, similar but not as good as "Xin Lian Hin" old uncle mentioned above (1st picture). Not very thick/creamy but still flavorful with some spiciness. Ingredients seems lesser as it has 2 pieces of chicken (about half a drumstick), 2 Tao Pok, 3 thin slices of pork skins and 4 cockles. Though sambal is really nice. Priced at Rm 10 nett
Food: Pan Mee (Dry) 3.5🌟 Food: Fried Dumplings 3.75🌟 Not sure if it's a thick noodle but it's thicker than the usual thin Noodle but definitely not thick either. Noodles texture is good, hard and chewy. The sauce is pretty good and the soup has a slight vegetable flavor with mostly msg. It comes with some minced pork, black fungus (feels fresh) and 2 fried Wantan which is crispy and nice. The portion is a bit small (refer to picture) priced at Rm 9. The fried dumpling is very crispy, with a nice flavor and the filling (pork and veggies) feels balanced and fresh. Priced at Rm 2 a piece with minimum 2...
Read moreConfession: When my friend asked me to try a curry Mee (aka curry laksa, curry noodle) shop, I actually went the wrong one (few doors away). It was not good (see my review)
Today I finally came to the right one! Thanks to my colleague who pointed out my error. (Shy lah....)
First the curry laksa, it was VERY VERY good. It is creamy and has a good flavour. The chicken was yummy too! We added char siew and siew yoke. It would be even better, if they chop the siew yoke in bigger pieces and the skin was more crispy.
If you like the waterly flavourless curry then this is not for you. Otherwise, you MUST try this place out!
The other good thing is they have other food if you don't like curry or spicy food. Their Yong Tao foo, wantan noodle are also worth eating
Finally our favourite was the "tong Sui". Chinese dessertWe try many of them, it was most delicious. Mak Chuk 麦粥, Red Bean Soup 红豆沙, Black Sesame 黑芝麻....
I will sure come back here to eat again. Not only to eat the Curry Laksa again. But to try out all the tong sui.
Pro Tip: go and sit at the shop that sell the tong Sui next door, and the boss will come and take your order. It is more comfortable than sitting at the main shop. The boss is a very nice and friendly guy too!

This curry mee place is worth driving there for! One of my favourite curry mee in town.
The story with this place started when I randomly saw a dear friend's post on a delectable looking bowl of curry mee on the social media. Detective mode switched on and I found New Lian Hin located somewhere in between Jalan Kuchai Lama and Happy Garden.
There are 2 shop units - one is where you place your order and then head to the next one to sit, enjoy and relax while waiting for your food & drink to be served.
◾Curry Mee - another Ipoh style curry mee that got me raving besides MJ SS3. Gotta love the addition of poached chicken on top of the regular cockles, pork skin, taufu pok. The curry broth had what it takes to make it one of the better ones in the market - fragrant with right consistency without being too diluted nor too creamy, just-right level of spiciness. Char siew is extra charge from the same stall as they are also selling wantan mee. ◾Roasted pork belly - additional order from the roasted meat stall. Crackling skin, good seasoning with good fat-to-lean meat ratio.. what's not to like? ◾Drinks - better ones out there.
Parking might be a problem especially...
