Me'nate Steak Hub • Setapak — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

First time at the place and it was pretty empty for lunch time. 2 menus were given plus a drinks menu card however my menu book was missing some pages.

Wanted to order some fruit juice drinks but no fruit available so settled for coke.

Ordered 2x soup and was confused that we had to pick our meat packets from the chiller and order near the kitchen. The staff should have explained how it works.

The menu didn't include anything about the sides and sauces which is poor.

Only 1 soup arrived and despite telling a female staff member that there should be 2 soups, the 2nd item didn't arrive. Eventually I went to the counter and found the staff chit chatting and ignoring everything. It seems that the staff member failed to do anything after I told them that soup was missing however one of them finally adjusted the order and the 2nd soup arrived.

The main course arrived and the meat looked good. The side orders were mash + veg. The mash was cheap horrid instant stuff with a miniature size portion.

My tenderloin steak was really nice and my wifes lamb rack was also tasty.

Service was non-existent and nobody came to check if we were ok or wanted anything else.

Eventually I had stand up and call over to the lazy chit chatting staff sat behind the counter.

I tried to desert and told that there was only bread and butter pudding and all there options were out of stock which is quite pathetic.

The bill was paid and on the way out there was some cakes in the cabinet so I wonder why the service guy didn't tell us that.

Nice soup and meat but the rest was bad.

No plan to return...

Walked in, took time to pick my steaks at rhe fridge, n at first was rudely ignored by the manager. When i asked my friend if i was actually just rudely ignored, that manager then quickly replied to me “kejap!”. N i patiently waited after that.

When he finally came over to attend, he asked which table we have chosen. N we said we have yet to find a seat. N he immediately said thats not how it works, u need to find a table first. We then said ok, since the shop was quite empty, we looked around and said we will have any table. And he scoffed and said, thats not how it works. U need to pick a specific table, so we can send the food to that table. Otherwise, how are we going to send the food to you?! 🤦‍♀️ At this point, we decided that this establishment was not worth our hard earned money and decided to find another place to eat.

To the management, is best you replace this manager with a better suited individual with some basic customer service standards. Your meat items are not cheap, it should be paired with staff that have standards. This current manager tonight will be the reason your business starts to deteriorate, monitor the reviews when he is on shift. Teruk sgt service level. Because he was rude, i tak nak spend money here. Padahal nak celebrate event nih. We ended up having wagyu yakiniku next door instead. Came specifically there to makan durian and menate, and u end up pushing your regular to your competitor.

Sayang betul, i have been a frequent patron of your other outlets. This experience today really tarnished the menate brand...

As always food was very good, has been visiting this particular branch since it first opened but unfortunately today I experienced a very very bad experience with the waitress named LATIFAH. She is super duper rude towards me and my mom when we walk into the restaurant she look at us and straight away pointed from afar “SANA SANA” like shooing us away to other side of the premise.

I felt hugely humiliated by her action however my mom still being so kind and polite by apologizing our actions who walk into the restaurant without assistance (no one was at the entrance to welcome us and assist us), however this RUDE GIRL NAMED LATIFAH just rolled her eyes and shown a very unpleasant facial expression towards my mom.

Her behaviour is such a shame to the menate setapak family since other staff was very welcoming with warm smile, even the food taste good as usual but this rude staff behaviour ruined our whole experience dining at Menate Setapak.

We really love to keep supporting you guys, but with this rude staff named LATIFAH presence, I’m afraid we will not be coming back anymore. And others might find themselves having the same experience too if this LATIFAH didn’t reflect and change her attitude towards the better.

Menate setapak might fall one day because of a staff like her. Please do better.
