We came across this vintage style nyonya restaurant as we came out of a very packed food court. Since we didn’t want to eat at the crowded food court, we decided to give this place a try. First impression we were attracted by the old vintage charm of the place. Inside the place is decorated in olden vintage furniture and had plenty of antique displays. The menu is nyonya which is a peranakan cuisine. As there were just two of us we couldn’t order much. The food looks tempting and prices were reasonable. So we had the nasi lemak rendang ayam and the spring rolls, both of which were delicious. The rendang was not spicy and had the right amount of lemak flavor. Service though was a bit slack as most were foreign workers who I believed were untrained to handle customer service or orders. Overall we would still return to try out other dishes as we like the cool old world charm of the place which is so fitting for a place like Central Marlet …..

Authentic nyonya restaurant and bar, serving mostly dinner like dishes. Which suitable for a group of people for function or special day treat. They still have single person meal but the variety is little. The price is high as here is a cozy restaurant and bar. Yes, they do serve beers. As for the taste, is nice. Tried the omelette with coconut rice, both not oily even im eating 3-4 person portion of the omelette. Given you the home cook taste with some classy feel. The coconut rice is the famous nyonya style with blue color given a nice fragrant for the rice. The rice is just right in terms of the stickiness but not too dry. However, a bit disappointed with its bubur cha cha as the sweet potato used is thick and crunchy, while i prefer soft. Besides, hope they served it hot as written in the menu. But still tasty. For your information, they only served nyonya food, which no pork, and more to spicy kind of Malaysian Chinese flavour.

Pleasantly surprised. This being in a tourist hotspot, wasn't actually expecting all that much, but it was just as good as nyonya restaurants we've been to outside the tourist areas of Georgetown and Malacca, if also about twice as expensive (partly of course since we're in the centre of KL). Beef rendang was the perfect amount of spicy for me, though that's of course subjective, and was my favourite of the bunch, with the kaffir lime leaves cutting through the richness perfectly. The nasi lemak came with a good chicken curry, which was a nice bonus. The squid had a tasty, if perhaps too mild, sauce. Only dish I wouldn't order again was the 'top hat' one; apart from the sauce the flavour fell flat. We arrived 20:45 on a Saturday and the place was mostly empty. Good service.

We decided to eat here at the last minute after spending a long time exploring the KL central market. Immediately we were transported to the past with eclectic early 1900s decor and vibe. The menu features various local dishes that are already a type of fusion between the Malays and Chinese who have migrated to Malaya and married to the locals. We wanted to try the unique dishes so we picked the Belachan Pucuk Paku (a type of fern cooked with Shrimp paste), garlic fried chicken and some "purple" coconut rice to go with it. The aroma was superb and the taste is even more devine especially something in a food court environment. All the dishes of other tables looked great as well. Will definitely come back again if am back in KL.

My first time to this Peranakan restaurant located in Central Market. We ordered some staple dishes like Pie Tee, Kerabau ladies fingers, Chapy Chye, Assam Fish, Petai omelette, sago melaka and a durian dessert. The Assam fish and the durian dessert was spot on whilst the other dishes to me, was just normal. The chap chye could be further improved and the taste wise further enhanced. The staffers were attentive and the decor and ambience of the place was pretty. If you do crave for some Peranakan food, you might want to drop by here. I noticed that they have Nyonya Laksa as well so maybe I would drop by next time to savour it.
