Good spot for authentic Chettinad cuisine. To make it better, it is accessible by public transport. The location was quite hidden, to be honest. Look up for Naili grocer store for better cue. The atmosphere was good and clean and was not crowded for a Christmas holiday. Since there was quite some time since I last ate banana leaves, my friend and I asked for the recommendation from the server. He suggested that we should each tried one set of Northern Indian rice set and Southern Indian rice set. Both of them comes with rice, one yogurt and one cornish sagu (dessert) and with different side dishes. Northern comes with more veggies, and one roti canai, whereas Southern ones come with 2 chapati and fish as side dish. We also ordered one curry chicken and one tikki masala vegetarian chicken. Both was cooked with perfect amount of spices which can make our tongues dance. We also ordered a plate of fried bitter gourd and a cup of Masala tea. For future reference, please order your tea together with the meal. I had trouble with getting my meaning across with the server as he has trouble in understanding my request in English. The tea comes much later after the we had finished our meals. Lastly, while paying at the counter, I noticed that they provide customers with seed like condiments together with toothpicks. They told that it was natural herb for cleaning the teeth after meal. I tried a handful, it tasted like refreshing smell with a tinge of sweetness. My overall experience here was good. The food here was cooked with hearty and rich spices. Also, there's a lot Indians customers here, which it is reasonable to assume that the food must be nice to attract all the local indians to dine in. The server was fast and helpful but at times had troubles in understanding basic English. Please do work on that.

Nice place to have Indian food, specially south Indian. The restaurant is quite clean and spacious. They offers a variety of cuisines and the food portion is quite good as well as the taste. The price can be consider reasonable as we paid RM163 for 6 Pax (sufficient food) but again it depends on your appetite as well. Palak Paneer was not good at all so I’d suggest not to try any North Indian dish here. The rest of the food that we ordered was good in taste. The service was Ok, takes about 10-15 minutes. The only thing which surprised me was that we ordered 6 Masala Tea and within 20 seconds I requested to replace one tea with Coffee but they simply denied by saying that tea already prepared but surprisingly it took them another 10 min. to serve that tea. Anyway that was not a big deal for us but they should be more sensible to the customers. Also I’d suggest not to drive this place else you’ll have a hard time to find the parking, better take LRT (2 min. walk from Masjid-Jamek LRT station) Overall, it’s a good place for having some good food.

I had a fantastic experience at Betel Leaf Indian Restaurant! The menu offers a great variety, from South Indian dishes to specialties from Hyderabad and Chettinad. I tried about 5-6 dishes, and everything was incredibly flavorful. The aroma even lingered on my hands after washing with soap now that's a sign of authentic spices! The chicken biryani was delicious, and pairing it with the mutton chukka was the perfect combination like the cherry on top. My only suggestion would be to have slightly bigger glasses for drinks, as my carrot juice was gone halfway through the meal. That said, the juice was perfectly made, with minimal added sugar and ice, yet still tasted fresh and flavorful. As for pricing, I found it reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Even with about 50% of the restaurant filled, the food arrived quickly. Overall, a wonderful dining experience🫶✨

Service staff were attentive and fast. But it's a big restaurant and extremely noisy during lunchtime. There are many signages (in Tamil only) posted asking patrons to keep the noise level down, but it doesn't seem to be working 😅 I had the Fish Thali Set which had a lot on it; fish curry, fried fish masala, fried small fish, fish puttu, 2 vegetables, a boiled egg, rasam, yogurt, payasam, rice and a pappadam. Too much fish for one Thali in my I opinion. The curry was somewhat thin and watery but the other fish items were pretty good, especially the fish puttu. The boiled egg was out of place in this Thali. They could try to reduce the number of items and perhaps reduce the price? Overall it was pretty good tasting food. And kudos to the wait staff for really keeping things moving during the busy lunch service. Will return to explore more of the menu.

I’ll start with disclaimer first, I’m not very familiar with Indian cuisine and these are the items that I’ve had more than 5 times in my life; vadai, naan, palak paneer, biryani and thosai, butter chicken. So for me, I find the food here tasty, portion resonable. Comfortable with ac, payment easy with choices from duitnow, credit card and cash. Can be a bit noisy during peak hours as it’s popular with groups and families. Special mention on the vadai, comes in a plate of 5 pieces with two chutneys, hot when it arrived, the chickpeas, spices etc comes together nicely. I also takeaway Chettinand chicken and Kashmiri pulao. The pulao is loaded with crunchy red apples pieces and fresh grapes, goes so well with spicy and creamy curry dishes. The mango lassi and madras tea is also tasty but I wish for stronger tasting spices in the tea.

Gotta admit that it doesn't look like the prettiest building on the block but I've had so many people recommend it to me that I had been wanting to go for just as long. Upon entering you're hit with the smell of sweet incense, and the interior had a beautiful yellow glow with hanging lamps. The food was superb. I finished off a whole biryani by myself and okay we may have over-ordered the curries a little but every single thing was delicious. The veg thali had 6 curries, pappad and kheer, fish non veg thali had 4 curries with a big serving of the fish curry + kheer and the curd rice came with a side of salted dry chillis. There's free flow of water water and many Indian desserts to choose from. The post-meal khulfi and light and a great finisher. It was quite sweet for a few of us tho (not me xD)
