I can eat their noodles for three meals everyday for the rest of my life. 5 generations of my family have been visiting Soong Kee faithfully and ordering the same thing over and over again. If I am not wrong, between all of us in the family, more than five million beef balls have been enjoyed since my great-grandfather first step foot into Soong Kee. Their noodles are cooked to perfection, topped with the most flavourful minced meat and their bouncy meatballs complete the dish. Do also order their sliced beef which is super tender and smooth. It would be a sin not to love their chili sauce, which compliments everything that they serve perfectly. For those who are not fans of noodles, theres rice porridge served with a huge variety of accompaniments. Many diners order this as an add-on. Parking is a little difficult and I'd recommend parking at Central Market and taking a short walk over to Soong Kee. Although Soong Kee has other branches in more convenient locations, I still prefer to go back to the original one always. If you have not been to Soong Kee, you have not been to KL.

Many reviewers have mentioned this place to be average but it really depends on which aspect you are evaluating. For lovers of beef noodles who loves tripe, this is the place for you. Exceptionally fresh tripe. Perfectly cooked beef slices (many beef noodle places overcook it) that's super tender and bouncy beef balls. Would recommend the mix meat. I was never a huge fan of tripe but this is among the two places I would eat beef tripe at. The fresh tripe leaves you with a nice bite feel. Combined with tender beef slices and bouncy meat balls, can you imagine the combined experiential outcome? This place has definite remained consistent throughout the years. But one thing I believe it can improve on is definitely the soup. It is a very basic soup base that does not live up to how well its meats are prepared. So if you are a beef noodle soup fan for its soup then this place might not be for you (but you should try it at least once). Its dry mince meat noodles are alright but just a side thing compared to its glorious meats hahahahaha.

I ordered their dry beef noodles, beef ball soup and poached chicken. This was my second round of dinner after just tried Shin Kee beef noodles, another famous eatery that is about 10-minute walk from here. Hence, I will be making some comparisons between the two places as I also had the dry beef noodle and beef ball soup at Shin Kee. The dry beef noodle here was served with some greens so that helped to balance the saltiness of of the minced beef sauce. But overall the dish still tasted slightly too salty for me. Their beef balls were more flavorful than those I just had at Shin Kee. I also ordered a portion of their poached chicken as it was highly recommended in the reviews. True enough, the chicken was really tender and succulent. This was partly due to the over generous amount of oil that was brushed onto the chicken before serving. My lips were smeared with a good coating of oil after every bite of the chicken. And that was not pleasant at all.

I finally had the chance to have my favourite "chu chap chook" at this place. The porridge was creamy smooth & delicious. However, I wished there were MORE crunchy fried pork intestines for the price of a bowl. The beef balls in soup were okay. Nothing to. shout about. The mixed tripe in soup was also okay. The steam chicken is smooth & yummy & exactly how it should be. 😋😋😋 Service was good as I asked for extra "chung" (spring onions) TWICE & was rewarded with it. That's me. I just love my porridge with lots of spring onions & I would scoop up every single bit. ❤️😋❤️ Price wise I think it WAS a bit steep. As for parking, just park besides the road at the yellow line. Eveyone does it. This porridge has been around a long time & even without a proper parking area, customers still come to enjoy their porridge. Yes, even customers in their BIG, expensive cars. 😂😂😂 ENJOY...!

This is a shop that I have been patronising for over 30 years now. The taste has remained relatively unchanged over the years. The ubiquitous Dry Minced Beef with Beef Balls noodles are the most popular order here and with good reason too. It’s a unique noodle dish which is not equalled by any of the other beef noodles places in KL. Springy noodles are cooked just right and topped with a big dollop of minced beef in a flavourful sauce. Be sure to add a spoonful of their signature chilli sauce and mix the noodles well before enjoying. Their soup version however isn’t great and their sliced beef isn’t so beefy in taste (I suspect this is due to the addition of soda to soften the meat which also removes some of the original beefy taste). Do try the dry version. You won’t regret it.

The famous namesake beef ball mee has been around for ages, something like more than 40 years. However the good taste of its springy homemade mee, clear soup and succulent beef balls have been consistent throughout the years. It is made rich by its generous and appetizing looking grind beef paste added to it to give it color not only appealing to the eyes but an appetizer adrenaline rush to start off your meal. The ambience has improved by leaps and bounds from its humble beginning of just a tiny and cramped upstair and downstair settings of bygone years since we first patronize it on a regular basis since early 1980s. With a steady stream of customers at all the times you may need to queue a little but its turnaround time is commendable.
