We had a wonderful dining experience here on a special occasion.

It's rare to see Chinese cuisine in a fine dining setting. I give this place full marks for that alone! We often tend to discount local food because of its abundance, and I'm glad to see that it gets a lot of love at Shu KL.

Food-wise, my favorite was probably the appetizer both in terms of presentation and taste. The duck was delicious, too, with just the right amount of doneness and spices. It's the signature of this place, apparently. The desserts deserve a special mention - I loved the chrysanthemum panna cota with honey ice cream! They also have a good selection of wine for pairing with the dishes.

In terms of service, I felt very well taken care of from start to finish. The team helped me surprise my husband on his birthday. They were very attentive throughout. Kudos! I appreciate it.

Contrary to other reviews, I personally feel that the open kitchen concept gives this place a unique touch. It's nice to watch the activity behind the counter as you enjoy your meal.

After waiting for almost a year since its opening, the opportunity to dine at Shu KL presented itself and the wait was truly not in vain. It was a most delightful epicurean experience, where the dry aged pomfret with ginger oil was an excellent entree. This was swiftly followed with a delectable lao gan ma bread with crispy garlic bits, and a dou jiang dish with yuba. Shu's Staple Menu showcases the various ways which the Chinese diaspora handles rice, and this was exceptionally telling with the Conger Congee, a fish dish with a puree of congee and coriander oil. The fish was expertly prepared, and utterly delicious. The Hao You Beef was superb, combining remarkable presentation with via combination of 6 sauces which you blend into a truly delicious main. Desserts were not to be taken lightly either, with a cheng teng sorbet, and a jasmine flower ice cream with (you guessed it), toasted jasmine rice.

It was an innovative, elegant, and most importantly, delicious meal and I honestly can't wait for the next iteration of...
