“No! No! No! Yes!” I think this quote perfectly sums up the feelings one experienced while standing on an ‘exit’ before a Tandem BASE jump. Just a few seconds later, when the parachute opens, passengers are overwhelmed with joy and pride. It’s been our pleasure taking passengers from Kuala Lumpur, and all over the world for tandem BASE jumps. We are headed back to Moab to join the rest of the team that’s been jumping the entire time. Mother-daughter BASE jumps! The family that jumps together… ummm…. Is AWESOME! tandembasemoab.com #tandembasemoab #idbase #merdeka118 #kltower #malaysia #kualalumpur #moabutah #gopro #gopromax #nature #urbanworldrecord #basejump #tandem #begoodtopeople #adventuretime #adrenaline #adventuretravel #epic #family #menext #flysquirrel

The Petronas Twin Towers are the tallest twin towers in the world. The Skybridge that connects the two towers is the highest two story bridge in the world. The Petronas Twin Towers are designed with a steel and glass façade resembling motifs from Islamic art, Malaysia’s primary religion. These towers are a symbol of Kuala Lumpur, along with the nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower, another icon of the city. I’m so glad that I experienced the beauty of these towers because they really come to life at night. #petronastowers #malaysia 🇲🇾

Menara Kuala Lumpur, commonly known as KL Tower, is one of the most iconic landmarks of the Malaysian capital. Standing at 421 meters, it was completed in 1995 and remains the 7th tallest freestanding tower in the world. Situated in the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, this tower is not only a communication hub but also a major tourist attraction offering panoramic views of the city.

Design and Architecture: KL Tower features a unique and striking design, combining modern architecture with cultural elements. The base of the tower has a wide, circular footprint, supported by 4 massive legs that taper as they ascend. The tower's observation deck is a distinctive dome shape, with a spire reaching into the sky. One of the most notable aspects of its design is its smooth, futuristic aesthetic, making it a standout on Kuala Lumpur's skyline.

The tower’s structure is designed to withstand strong winds and earthquakes, a necessary feature given the region’s environmental conditions. The overall look is sleek and modern, giving visitors a sense of grandeur and engineering excellence.

Location and Accessibility: Menara KL is strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, easily accessible from major tourist spots like Bukit Bintang, Chinatown, and the Petronas Twin Towers. It is also close to public transportation, including the Bukit Nanas monorail station, which makes it convenient for visitors traveling around the city. The tower is situated atop a hill in the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, offering a slight hike to the base that leads to a tranquil green environment amidst the urban bustle.

Attractions and Features:

Observation Decks: The main highlight of the Menara KL is the observation deck, located at 276 meters above ground level. From here, visitors can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of the entire city, including the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC, and beyond. The deck is enclosed with large glass windows, providing unobstructed views. The experience is particularly magical during sunset or at night when the city lights illuminate the skyline.

For those seeking an even higher vantage point, the Sky Box is an exciting addition. This glass-enclosed box extends outward from the tower, allowing visitors to literally "stand over" the city. It's a thrilling experience for those looking for something more adventurous.

Sky Restaurant: One of the unique offerings of Menara KL is its revolving restaurant, located at 282 meters. The restaurant provides a fine dining experience with delicious Malaysian and international cuisines while offering panoramic views of the city. As it revolves, diners are treated to a continuously changing perspective of the stunning skyline.

Educational Experience: The tower features a small but informative exhibition on the tower's history and the surrounding area. A section of the tour includes the cultural aspects of Kuala Lumpur, giving visitors a deeper understanding of the city's heritage and development. The interactive displays and informational plaques are especially useful for those interested in architecture, engineering, or local culture.

KL Tower Mini Zoo and Botanical Garden: For families or those interested in nature, the base of the tower has a small mini zoo that houses local species of animals and birds. Additionally, the surrounding Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve provides a natural escape with walking trails, making it an excellent spot for a leisurely walk or a picnic amidst the city’s busy atmosphere.

Night Views: Visiting Menara KL at night is an unforgettable experience. The illuminated tower creates a stunning visual as it lights up...

This was an tremendously disappointing experience, mainly because of the very rude, arrogant and unprofessional staff. It's is also extremely expensive and over priced. Very simply put, this is nothing more than a tourist trap designed to rip off as many tourists of as much money as they possibly can.

They have numerous different ticket combinations and permutations at the ticket office. At least 8-10 that I could see on the brochure. VERY confusing. But when I tried to get information from the ticket seller so I could decide which one to buy, he was incredibly rude, keeping arguing with me rather than simply explaining the different ticket prices. This lack of transparency and consideration for the customer experience was evident throughout my visit, leaving me thoroughly disappointed.

There are literally dozens of security guards at the top, but they look, act and behave more like prison guards in a correctional facility than security staff assisting the public in one of Asia's most famous tourist attractions. They look incredibly menacing and intimidating, and if you try to ask them for information about anything they glare at you like they're about to kill you, and refuse to answer any questions, or even speak at all.

The glass Sky Box is a travesty. I was only allowed 45 seconds on there (!), during which time I was literally jumped on by the photographer who wasted the whole 45 seconds taking ludicrously overpriced photos which I wasn't really able to afford. I was not even told I had only 45 seconds, and when I went to the other Sky Box on the other side (and had to pay again!) the staff not only refused to take some photos with my phone, they refused to allow another member of the public to take my photos!

When I got back down to the bottom I looked at the photos on the monitor, and because I wasn't able to get any pictures on my phone I reluctantly (and foolishly) decided to buy the ridiculously overpriced ones, mainly for my sick, elderly mum back home. Except that the staff working in the photography department refused to sell them to me, unless I paid first, BEFORE I got to see the finished product!! When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was treated very rudely and told that the supervisor had gone home for the day (it was around 8.30pm). Then I went to the ticket counter to try to speak to a supervisor, but I was told they were in a meeting, and I was given an email address and assured over and over that a supervisor would respond to me within 24 hours. I sent an email next day explaining the horrible treatment I'd received from the photography department, but needless to say my email was ignored and not responded to at all.

All in all this was a horrible experience, with really rude, angry, disrespectful, unhelpful, unprofessional, menacing, threatening looking staff and security. Even the management/supervisors can't be bothered to assist the paying customers or reply to emails and complaints. Easily the most unpleasant experience I've had, not just in KL or Malaysia, but in all of Asia.

AVOID THIS PLACE...

Visiting the Menara Kuala Lumpur, or KL Tower, is an almost mandatory experience for any visitor to the city, and for good reason. Standing tall as one of Southeast Asia's tallest structures, it offers breath-taking panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur's sprawling cityscape, including the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in their majestic glory.

The journey up to the observation deck itself is efficient and well-organized. The high-speed elevators whisk you away in moments, and the anticipation builds as you ascend. Stepping out onto the viewing platform, whether the enclosed Sky Deck or the open-air Sky Box (if you're feeling adventurous!), the sheer scale of the city laid out before you is truly impressive.

What I Loved: Unparalleled Panoramic Views: This is the main draw, and it doesn't disappoint. From this vantage point, you gain a true appreciation for the layout of Kuala Lumpur, spotting key landmarks, sprawling residential areas, and the surrounding green hills. Sunset is a particularly magical time to visit as the city lights begin to twinkle.

Strategic Location: The tower's position offers an unobstructed 360-degree view, allowing you to see the Petronas Twin Towers in their entirety, a view often partially obscured from ground level.

Variety of Experiences: Beyond the observation decks, KL Tower offers other attractions like the Sky Box (a glass extension offering a thrilling experience), the revolving Atmosphere 360 restaurant, and cultural shows at the base. This makes it more than just a viewing platform.

What Could Be Improved: Pricing: The entrance fee is very high, especially if you opt for the Sky Box experience. It would have been better if the entrance fee was a little lower.

Crowd Management (Peak Hours): During popular times, such as sunset, the observation decks can get quite crowded, potentially impacting the viewing experience. Consider visiting during off-peak hours if possible.

Maintenance (minor points): On my visit, a few of the informational displays were slightly outdated or not fully functional. Regular upkeep of these details would be beneficial.

Overall: The Menara Kuala Lumpur is an iconic landmark that undeniably delivers on its promise of spectacular city views. It's a fantastic way to orient yourself with Kuala Lumpur and capture some stunning photos. While the price point might be a consideration for some, the unforgettable panoramic perspective and the overall well-managed experience make it a highly recommended attraction. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a long-time resident, KL Tower offers a unique and captivating way to appreciate the beauty and scale of Kuala Lumpur.

Check the weather forecast before your visit for optimal visibility.

Consider visiting during sunset for breathtaking views as the city lights up.

Book your tickets online in advance to potentially save time and money.

Bring your camera! The photo opportunities are incredible.

Explore the other attractions at the base of the tower if...
