Im very dissapointed. This is totally not up to a 5 star hotel standard at all. The place looks amazing but its noisy (a lot of background noise and clanking) despite the few customers and its not calming and relaxing at all, it makes me feel like im at a mamak store. The food was rlly not worth the price. We ordered the Zipangu set worth rm270+ but the ingredients they used are not quality or high class at all. It's like the food u can get at a slightly better local japanese restaurant.
The service is not good at all. No one greeted us at the entrance or anything, i thought it hasn't opened yet. The waiters were all over the place and its hard to even call someone to order. I've went to lower class restaurants that had better service than this. They don't rlly tend to ur needs and they don't refill ur tea if u don't ask unless they come over to serve.
The appetiser was super dissapointing. We had like cold vege and ginger beef cubes (im not even sure what that is) which are underwhelming. The waiters don't say anything much and they just put it down and leave immediately. I feel that it's rlly unfriendly. The salmon salad was too spicy and not enjoyable and i was focused on the pain shooting up my nose the whole time. It covered whatever other flavours there were. The chawanmushi was ok but the only toppings there are is the sad little piece of chicken. Its even worse than a sushi king chawanmushi. The main course was fine, the sauce was good. But the dessert is just a scoop of ice cream unfortunately. They didnt even try to plate it nicer. It makes me feel like they used the scraps from the other meals to put somethung together.
I came here for a wonderful experience and waiting to be wowed but everything just made me dissapointed in myself for choosing to dine here. I can get better food with a cheaper price anywhere else. The service was bad, ingredient quality horrible, presentation terrible (theyre not even trying), and environment not very pleasant. I would rate 0/10 stars if i could. Its not worth...
Read moreUpdate for recent meal.
Recently this has got to be one of the worse value japanese restaurant in all of kl.
The food honestly have little to no flavour and quality is possible compared to conveyor belt sushi restaurant . But priced close to Rm 400 for the set.
Appetiser is unique and thats all there is not bad but not good either just average. Sashimi gives 3 kinds of honestly below average quality slices of akeme(cheap lean cut), salmon and butterfish. And is way too thin. Beef requested to cook medium but cam out as raw, not rare even. Sent back to kitchen and came back out as rare eventhough requested for medium. Dessert is alright but quality is nothing to shout out about. The chawamushi is the only thing that i find good, but for the value wise is still not up to standard.
Additonally the seafood fried rice , eventhough there is some decent ingredients inside but have zero flavour. You could close your eyes and eat it and think its white rice with some shirmp inside (salmon blended in inside ).
Only slight positive is the service is alright, and ambiance is good.
Honestly i used to think it was good place to visit for special occasion. Now the quality and price proposition nosedive...
Read moreMy family and I booked a table via Eatigo for 30% discount. Overall, we enjoyed the food very much - very fresh and very high quality.
However, when it came to settling the bill, we were faced with an upsetting situation. I bought RM500 worth of Shangri-La cash vouchers to treat my dad on his birthday - out of all the eateries in Shangri-La, dad chose to spend it in Zipangu. The cashier did not accept these vouchers, claiming that we were double-dipping with the promotions (as we already had a 30% discount via Eatigo). We found this ridiculous, as I paid the full RM500 for these cash vouchers. We argued that, this is in fact, equivalent to paying RM500 in cash.
The manager finally accepted our cash vouchers after much deliberation (we waited for almost an hour for this to be settled). This entire experience left a sour taste in our mouths.
Because of our experience, I wouldn’t encourage anyone to purchase Shangri-La’s gift vouchers. Not only the process to redeem them is tedious and troublesome, the eateries in the hotel don’t seem to recognize the gift vouchers as valid sources...
