Glad we finally tasted their delicious food after we passed by this dongbei style Chinese restaurant frequently on the way from/to berjaya time square. Its bcoz we kinda remember this place when we had Tandoori chicken a few next door which is a corner mamak where we watched football matches when we were around the pudu area. The menu seems overwhelming with tons of items that's somewhat interesting and unique to this dongbey style. Its certainly different than Sichuan or Guangzhou, Cantonese etc We chose 2 types of dumplings(rm12 each) and one beef noodle(rm15) and sliced beef(rm32). After the 10% service charge, the sum reached rm78 The steamed dumplings stuffed with chives are so refreshingly flavorful due to its peppery flavor and oniony tangy. Not to mention its juicy. The fried version dumplings are flattened half moon pancakes looking that's also really fragrant and delicious, crispy outside and juicy and savory filling of chives. The beef noodle seems hand made texture bcoz its uneven and nicely springy, the beef meat is randomly cut brisket kind, but has some glistles a bit. The soup is light but still flavorful. The sliced beef is just ok in size, sliced in the chorizo shape, served along with dark sweet vinegar garlic sauce. The meat is dry side but we are ok with. But it's not pure meat but has some tendon, glistles all together compressed and cook, chilled and made a block of shape for slicing like that. Still yummy! We would recommend and come back to try some other interesting...
Read moreoutstanding food!!! i cant believe it was right on my doorstep and i have only just found it on my last night in KL, this really is a tucked away gem of the city!! i get the vibe that it is a family run place and they welcome you in like they was inviting you into their home however, there is a language barrier, the ladies don't speak English but there are pictures on the menu so you kinda just have to point (i feel this adds to the experience of travel and you are eating where the locals eat). the dinner ambiance was fairly chilled but a lot of chat at all the tables, me and my partner had a feast in there for our last night, 2 rice bowls, 1 noodle dish, 1 szechuan type pork "hand" (trotter) dish, 1 shredded pork dish and a side of grilled dumplings, the portion size was generous we also had 2 large Chinese beers each to wash it all down with, that all came to the surprisingly cheap sum of RM161.70 including a 10% service charge which works out to approx £15 per person amazing value if you ask me!! i would definitely recommend that you visit this fantastic place and enjoy the vast array of food that this gem...
Read moreMy best experience of Mapo Tofu was at Xiang Man Qing at Fraser Business Park branch. I felt that's the most authentic taste of that dish I can get here. However, they were not very consistent though. And, I think they have stopped operating there now unfortunately. I have been trying to find another place which could offer similar if not better and when I read Bangsar Babe's blog where she marveled about their Mapo Tofu, I decided to give this place a try. I was very disappointed with the experience. In my opinion, the Mapo Tofu was totally not even close to anything I would considered right. And, another dish I ordered which was stir-fry big pork intestine... I suspect it was not properly cleaned. It still has that very unpleasant taste &...
