Small, unassuming restaurant tucked inside a housing area. Not highly visible from the main road but can easily find if you have the address. Plenty of parking spaces by the roadside and the only Chinese restaurant on the road itself
Food was just alright to me and nothing spectacular - but it is something different than the usual Cantonese dai chow dishes we ordered. The menu is not extensive but they do have options to pre-order more expensive stuff.
The claypot brinjal was the best of all to me, flavourful and not too overpowering with the salted fish. Luffa Tofu did not really hit the spot for me. The luffa was slightly 'hard' and not as soft as other restaurants which we had this dish.
Claypot Chicken with leeks also came with some bulbs of garlic and chopped aromatics thrown in. Flavourful dish overall but not absolutely delish. The chicken is kampung chicken so the portions slightly small for 1/2 chicken. Chicken breasts were not dry so it was cooked well.
Lastly the pork cheek. Although the taste was great - very crunchy with just enough salt and pepper, I thought that it was not worth the price. The pork cheek was sliced very thinly (so not much meat per se) and the proportion of the fat to meat was quite significant. Good for those who likes to munch on crispy bacon with salty and peppery flavours but not for those looking for good...
Read moreIt is one of those place ( makan joint ) that gives you a complete homey taste that I always wanted but rarely fulfilled . Main reason being it has my mother's taste in their offerings. It's shunde , by the way. A place not far from xiaolam in the greater Pearl river Delta area close to Zhongshan. As there was just the 2 of us , we didn't managed to order much but just 2 sampling dish . A small stewed duck dish and a plate of Kai Lan. Simple it may seemed but to get that spot on was a rarity . And ours was just full of wok hei. Turns out one of the chef was from shunde. The dish didn't failed to impressed me . Let it be known Shunde dishes also have fishes, porridge, duck, goose, and many other type of fishes and the most unforgettable one was roasted pigeons , of course not available here ! But the owner lady did recommend a combination wok of crabs, fish and prawns in fish sauce/ soup. Kindly be aware that this dish is for at least 5 to 6 persons. Seemed it was rather a well known offering here. Service was okay pricewise, was okay as well considering the food quality offered which one don't often encounter at other restaurants . In my opinion, this place deserved another visit. And will see me back around...
Read moreTerrible and unethical We ordered roast chicken (half size), steamed tilapia, kalian and pork ribs. There is lot of fish scales within the soup which meant the fish is not cleaned well. The chicken is half raw despite claim it is roasted and there is blood. We ask that the lady boss to fry the chicken but she asked the Myanmar chef to boil it. The chicken has lost the taste. The lady boss refuse to apologize and even charged us for the chicken for RM20 despite the fact we consumed one slices out of the whole half chicken. You can look at the pictures and judge for yourself on the standard of human greed and lack of professionalism in preparing food. The standard of the restaurant has drop terribly and this is the last time we will visit...
