Sushi Mentai Setapak @ PV 126 — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Was looking for a decent Japanese meal and so happen to bump into this place. Been to other Sushi Mentai outlets and had a good impression. Well for this one my first impression is that we have to wait damn long for a seat as there is a long queue. Waited for 30+ minutes and finally got a table.

Have to say the food did not disappoint. Had a few dishes; sashimi, hana maki, miso soup, chawanmushi, yasai tempura. Sashimi was decently fresh, miso soup for the price you get quite a big bowl and it has a balanced flavour. The chawanmushi is very nicely done and smooth despite the large crowd. and the tempura is nicely fried. Not the best but for the price, it is very decent.

Ambience is decent and air conditioned. Seating is like all japanese restaurant and almost all table have access to the sushi belt, which is a plus point for me.

Service is good despite the crowd. and the price is decent.

Parking may be a problem because it is limited and there is always packed.

Do be prepared to wait...

During the MCO, we have to order via Whatsapp. However, I experienced a bad customer service. The order was sent for 20 mins never get confirmation from the staff, even after I called to the restaurant and got feedback that will check immediately, yet no response at all until I keep calling them. Not to mention the pick up need to wait for 30mins, beforehand we have been waiting endlessly just to ensure the order is being placed. The female staff's (I think should be the receptionist) attitude was slightly impatient as when she answered my phone her first sentence was "So why are you calling?" I was shocked, although I understand that during dinner hour restaurant is busy however customer satisfaction is utmost important and you shouldn't treat customers like this. Their dine-in service is good however I will not recommend this restaurant...

🍽️ Food - The sushi here tastes not bad and is usually fresh especially if you come early. Has great variety and you can specially order any specific sushi you want as well. Love the takoyaki, fried salmon skin and their new tempura egg.

💰Pricing - Prices are very reasonable at RM 1.80 and RM 2.80 per plate. Green tea is also refillable.

✨Environment - Place can be a bit tight and easily becomes crowded. Despite the crowd, the tables are usually clean and neat.

👨‍🍳 Service - Sushi ordered specially usually takes about 10 to 20 minutes to arrive. Other than that, the waiters are usually quite efficient and helpful.

Do come early at around 6 pm to avoid the dinner crowds. Or else one will have to wait for 30 to 45 minutes just to...
