*Plenty of street parking available, so feel free to try to find parking near the store
Ambience: Looks really good! The place has a really posh interior that gives it some class when you’re dining. There was a waiting list when we arrived but we didn’t have to wait too long despite it being peak lunch hour, so turnover is relatively fast.
Service: Great service as everything we requested was offered promptly without any issues or complaints. Although the food did take some time to arrive it’s likely because of the number of orders during weekend lunch, so no issues there from me. *FYI It’s a self-order at the counter
Food: Here is where I feel it might be a bit odd but bear with me. If I could summarise my experience here, the food is good, but it could be better. I’ll give a couple examples:-
Price: A bit on the higher side imo, but I guess you can still attribute it to the normal range of cafe pricing.
Conclusion: Would I come back here? This is a bit difficult to answer, I did like the food in general but as mentioned, I do feel that the food and pastries could benefit from minor adjustments. So I would come back once in a while perhaps? If I were in the area and craving...
Read moreHad the corned beef sandwich, the grilled cheese sandwich with the roasted tomato soup, and the pistachio kouign amman. We came around 11.30pm.
I think the sandwiches were nice in general and had big portions but I'm not sure how worth it considering the steep price. The bread itself is no doubt delicious, but I think the way they assembled the sandwiches were not as good.
The corned beef sandwich had a lack of vegetables and the bread itself was not as crispy as I expected. It felt really oily, which I am OK with, but someone else might not. While there were some pickles and mustard on the side, they were not combined with the sandwich and I think it's a bit weird that they expect customers to combine them themselves, I think the chef should know what a good sandwich should taste like, and combine them during sandwich assembly.
For the grilled cheese sandwich, it's understandable that there's no vege given, but again, it's not as crispy as I expected, though there is a lot of cheese. It was not bad tastewise, a lot of gooey cheese but I'm not sure if this is what I would want to pay again for in a restaurant given its price. I think my grilled cheese at home tasted better tbh (and mine is actually tasty imo)
The kouign amman came out cold which might be OK, but it was not crispy (again!!). It felt a bit stale and soft, as if it's been left out on the counter for a long time.
The environment itself is dark and feels like a cold (not in the temperature way) place. I didn't like the atmosphere.
Given the vibe, the price and the quality of the reviews, I hoped to really enjoy this place but I did not. For someone looking for better sandwiches, I had better at VCR Stacks, though I would like to find more competitors before choosing the best...

It was love at first bite at The Bread Bar for me. I could still vividly remember how the melted cheese sandwiched between two rather thick bread oozing out with the heavenly aroma of freshly toasted bread permeated my nose, and how the grated parmesan cheese upped it another notch on my palate.
The shop was designed to exude the upmarket feel reminiscing a bar with modern lightings and furnitures, a bar that serves what it does best - bread, pastries and coffee. While I like the whole ambience of this bar, I can't help but to feel that it's a bit "cold" - temperature-wise and vibe-wise.
◾Special menu - spicy smoked duck ragu with potato hash, pesto, fried eggs and sourdough. Not sure if they still have it, but please order if they do. The dish was actually quite appetizing - tangy with a bit of spiciness to it. ◾Signature grilled cheese sandwich served with whole grain mustard. I'd take the whole sandwich minus the mustard. Almost a must-order everytime I'm here. ◾Peanut butter & banana pain au Chocolat - when peanut butter was my kryptonite and I couldn't resist ordering it. This was probably the best version at the moment. ◾Crispy polenta slice, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms with roasted spiced eggplant and taalouk sauce. Not too filling which was perfect for the morning.
A word of caution - the breakfast and even pastries here are not cheap, in fact one of the highest in the market. That's why I only come here once in a blue moon!
Update : they have expanded their operation hours & serve dinner crowds with separate menu. I have yet...
