My partner and I went to the restaurant at approximately 2:25 PM today, unaware that it closes at 3 PM. When we arrived, a staff informed us of the closing time. I asked if we could still dine in, and he said yes, so I placed our order as quickly as possible to make things easier for the staff.
While ordering, I asked the female staff if they had anything like sotong sambal, as I was still deciding what combination of dishes to choose. I wasnโt aware that she had taken this as part of the actual order, especially since she did not confirm or repeat the order with me. It seemed they were in a rush to close.
While we were halfway through our meal assuming all the food had arrived, the sotong sambal dish was brought to our table. I told the staff that I hadnโt ordered it, only inquired about it. The male staff took the dish away. However, within 30 seconds, the same female staff returned with the dish, insisting that I had ordered it. I understand there may have been a miscommunication, but I didnโt expect her to be so forceful about it. My partner suggested we just accept it, so we did, although I was ready to decline it.
We left the restaurant by 3 PM. We had come to celebrate my partnerโs birthday, but unfortunately, we felt rushed during our meal. The female staff member in particular seemed impatient and unfriendly, which made us feel uncomfortable and wanted to leave.
The food and ambience were generally okay, but the service, particularly from this staff negatively impacted our experience. To be honest this will be our first and last time coming to this place .
To the dear owner, I kindly request that you provide additional training to your staff to ensure more professional and courteous service, especially during closing hours. A little understanding and better communication could go a long way in improving...

As i hailed frm Penang i am naturally a northrn Peranakan food fan but i am not biased whether its north or south so long the food is good. This time around i brought a friend of mine along from Melaka, he's a Baba, a real foodie and nothing Peranakan will escape his taste. We sat down and admired the place a bit, good ambience, quaint decor notably Peranakan design esp at the back half of the restaurant with the airwell n nice natural lighting reflecting those Peranakan houses at Jonker St. Definitely a comfort to be in. We dived into the menu, not overpowering with choices but just good enough for us. the spread of starters to meat, seafood, vege and non meat proteins did not present a challenge to pick. My friend picked the least common of the 2 main dish which he said and i agree hardly available in Peranakan restaurants this days which is the Ikan kuah berlada and the buah keruak ayam ponteh.(the buah keruak is really a rarity) We also chose a side dish the udang gulung. We did not wait long for the food to come and they definitely did not disappoint. In fact i should say i couldnt recall when was the last time i had a good Peranakan meal and remember it! I am not good in describing in detail the palate but i can say it really takes a very good Peranakan chef to whip up those taste. However i must say theres no perfection in life and so it was in this case too! i was so eager to try the mouth watering Chendol in the menu to cap off a wonderful lunch but unfortunately theres no Chendol available! Come onnnnโฆ a Peranakan restaurant without the godly Chendol to wrap things up.. that left me a bit high n dry! Haha. Anyway the overall is great bar the chendol. Will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently visited The Peranakan Bangsar with my friends. Initially, we come for our assignment interview, but after trying the food , I will definitely want to visit next time.
We started with the Pai Tee. It's really crunchy and crispy and it's really nice when come with their chili sauce. It's a savoury appetizer. After that, we have ikan pari, Ayam Kari Kapitan, lady's finger and also telur cencaluk for our dinner. The portion is big as we only have three people. I like their Ayam Kari Kapitan, will be one of my favourite. Their curry was well-balenced, slightly spicy and come with lime for refreshing, I think this combination was special for me but I somehow it match my taste.
Their kacang bendi, the look was simple but then when come with their sambal, the taste was so good. I like their sambal haha. One of my friend say she likes telur cencaluk very much.
For the dessert, we had Cendol and Sago Gula Melaka. Both of the dessert come with Gula Melaka. The first think I thought will the dessert be too sweet, but the answer is no. I am not a sweet tooth person, but I think I would like to have the second try if I was not full. I like their lemongrass drink as well, this drink gave me a comforting and warm feeling since it was raining that night.
Their ambience is good, the staff also nice. The vibe is good and all of us are really enjoy that night. Although the price for someone is not cheap, but I will like to say is it worth this price.
Although our visit started off as something else, but I really happy that we have a chance to try the Malacca style Peranakan cuisine. If my friends or family come to visit KL, I will bring them to here to try...
