Update after reading the manager's response :
I am very impressed by your eloquence and that you put a lot of effort as is evident by your reply to my review.
I decided to raise my rating from two to three stars because in fairness this is a touristic part of KL and so perhaps you are right and it is not overpriced (as for me I wouldn't eat in your restaurant had it even been free of charge).
And yes it was a muli parotha but all parothas are technically naans because naan is a general word for bread(s)...
If the parotha was stuffed with muli it's presence was mute because what I got was a reddish paste.
I do appreciate your honesty and that you admit the rice was cooked earlier and apparently recooked (or "improved") and I let the reader's make of that what they will.
I assure you that I do not collude with any of your competitors ; I am a European and a tourist but I do feel embarassed by the low standards of Indian food in Brickfields.
I wish the restaurant cared about the cooking and ambience as much as it does to responding to reviews.
If you ever tasted authentic Punjabi food in India 🇮🇳 you will immediately realise this eatery does not even come close.
For starters the atmosphere is bad.
The owner listens to YouTube videos at very high decibels on a table at the entrance to his establishment as if he is in his own home.
I moved to the last table because I was disturbed by this noise and I had ear phones on but I was still disturbed.
The jeera rice is pre-cooked and the rice used is possibly the cheapest rice available.
There is also a miserly amount of coriander on top.
The so-called radish naan only got its name because of a tiny piece of radish (no more than 12 grams in weight) that was floating in an uneventful sauce.
The mushroom kadai is very heavy because there is a lot of masala (aka oil) and little mushroom.
The mango lassi is ok and they provide a cup of free filter water.
The items described above set me back a whopping 45 Ringgit.
I think only the 5 star hotels at Sentral charge this much for such an amount of food plus it is below mediocre so it deserves only...
Read moreI recently had lunch at Vege Chat Pure Vegetarian Restaurant, and I must say it turned out to be one of the most satisfying dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the ambience felt warm, comfortable, and welcoming — simple yet elegant, with a clean and positive vibe that instantly put me in a good mood.
As someone who prefers vegetarian food, it’s not always easy to find a place that serves a variety of dishes with authentic taste and freshness. But Vege Chat exceeded my expectations in every way. The menu offered a great range of options — from North Indian meals to South Indian favorites, chaat varieties, and refreshing beverages. I ordered their North Indian thali, and everything on the plate was perfectly cooked — the curries were rich and flavorful, the chapatis soft, and the rice fragrant. Each item complemented the other beautifully.
What I appreciated most was the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Nothing felt oily or heavy, and the flavors were well-balanced without being too spicy or bland. The chaat items were another highlight — crisp, tangy, and full of that authentic Indian street-food flavor, but served in a much cleaner and more comfortable setting.
The staff was polite, attentive, and quick to serve. They made sure everything was on point without being intrusive. The service was fast, and even though the restaurant was fairly busy during lunchtime, the overall experience was smooth and pleasant.
In terms of pricing, it’s quite reasonable considering the quality and portion size. You definitely get good value for money here.
Overall, Vege Chat Pure Vegetarian Restaurant is a perfect spot for anyone who loves pure vegetarian food — whether you’re going with family, friends, or colleagues for a casual lunch. It’s a place that manages to combine homely flavors with restaurant-style presentation, and I’ll definitely be returning soon to try more from their menu. Highly recommended for all vegetarian food...
Read moreI recently had an appalling experience here on the 8th of July 2024, and I feel compelled to share my nightmare of a visit. I went there with my dad and mum, and what ensued was nothing short of a horror show of blatant racism and rudeness.
From the moment we stepped in, the lady boss seemed to have a personal vendetta against us. She blatantly ignored both my mum and me because we are Chinese, but miraculously found the time and energy to converse with my dad, who is Indian. Her behavior was beyond unprofessional – she completely ignored our attempts to get her attention, avoided eye contact like we were invisible, and acted as if she couldn't hear us at all.
The climax of this awful experience was when she finally decided to acknowledge our existence in the most demeaning way possible. She looked directly at my dad and, with a smirk on her face, asked, "Is that your daughter?" As if that wasn't bad enough, she then pointed at my mum and mocked, "Haha, who's that aunty?" She repeated this several times, laughing each time my dad confirmed that it was his wife. It was incredibly humiliating and infuriating to witness.
Her sarcastic remarks and laughter were the epitome of disrespect. This kind of treatment is utterly unacceptable and no one should have to endure such blatant discrimination and rudeness. If you value basic decency and respect, avoid this place like the plague. This lady boss has no business running a restaurant if she can't treat her customers with the most basic level of respect.
Save yourself the indignity and go somewhere else – anywhere else would be better than this disaster of...
