I visited The WhiteButter KL in Kampung Baru after some Googling. I thought there would be a nice view of KLCC or at least some cool photo spots, but unfortunately, the KLCC view was almost blocked by their big umbrellas, and the place was super crowded, so taking aesthetic photos wasn’t really possible.
The vibe is cozy, though, outdoor setup with big umbrellas, warm lights, and few greenery. It does feel inviting for a chill night out. However…
🚗 PARKING WAS A NIGHTMARE. The area has narrow, tight roads, and although there’s paid parking, it’s almost always full. I had to circle the area three times before finally finding a spot, it was honestly so stressful. If you’re planning to drive here, prepare for parking chaos.
The place was crowded with customers. But they have a waiting area with chairs. Once seated, I liked the system, order via QR code, pay online, simple and smooth. But still, food took a long time to arrive, even though the place seemed quite efficient.
Here’s what I tried:
🍛 Pad Kra Pao Chicken with rice (extra chicken).
Very generous portion and looked great. Unfortunately, the flavor was way too salty and has bold taste of spices, it overpowered everything. Texture and presentation were okay, but taste needed better balance.
🍗 Salted Buttermilk Chicken with rice.
Came with around 8 pieces of popcorn chicken. The fried chicken was standard, but the salted buttermilk sauce was rich, thick, and delicious, salty, creamy, with a slight sweetness. One of the better items, but again, it arrived painfully late.
🥤 Iced Ribena Lychee.
Not bad at all for a cafe drink. It was cold, refreshing, and came with 3 lychees, should add more.
☕️ WhiteBrew Coffee Kiosk.
The hidden gem here is WhiteBrew, a small coffee counter within the space. I had the Iced Coconut Latte (RM12) and honestly, it was so worth it. Smooth, aromatic, and had a nice coconut twist. I’d come back just for that coffee and that one cute barista. I wanna try their Iced Chocolate Mint.
Final thoughts:
Come here if you want somewhere chill and don’t mind waiting. Don’t expect KLCC views or photo spots (they do have the views but very limited lah), it’s more of a hangout spot than an aesthetic hotspot. Parking is genuinely tough, so unless you’re okay with driving in circles, you might want to Grab. Worth it for the coffee and the chill vibe, less so for the food...
Read moreI decided to visit this place after seeing multiple ads on my instagram. My order consisted of their bestseller White Pasta (because I didn't want the other pasta as the description said it was spicy 🌶️) along with a glass of Lychee Ribena. I had a mixed dine-in experience at WhiteButter.KL:
The good: instagrammable food presentation and location, with a nice view of the Twin Towers the popcorn chicken was crispy, tender and flavorful the lychee infused Ribena iced drink was very delicious and refreshing quick and fast service. I got my food within 10 minutes of ordering
The bad: the pasta sauce was a bit on the spicy side, with no real flavor. The pasta lacked salt so it ended up being a bland-spicy sort of taste the bread on the side was hard and salty. I was expecting it to be garlic bread but it was not so since it's an outdoor space so it was a bit hot, but I went at night so it wasn't much of an issue
The idk what 🤔: there was a bit of a language barrier just as I sat down. I don't know what the waiter was trying to tell me in Malay, and I was just looking at him cluelessly telling him I don't understand. Then he called another lady and she asked me if it was only going to be me (I was sitting alone at the small table for 2 so I don't know why there was a need for the whole encounter 🤷). I know this is Malaysia and people speak Malay mostly, but if you're advertising solely in English and all your menu items are mentioned in English, then you also need to hire staff who can communicate in English instead of making customers awkward.
Overall, the only things I enjoyed were the drink, quick service and the view. The rest was...
