Booked a 2 Bedroom Premier room for 3 adults (but breakfast was for 2 only), got a lower floor (#0806 - carpark view), my other group got #2806 with twin tower view - see pic). These rooms seem to be corner rooms, so they are farthest from the lifts.
1 bedroom came with King size bed (with ensuite toilet / work desk area), the other much smaller bedroom was 2 single beds (can be combined to be double bed), with enough walking room around the bed only (but had mini tables beside bed/wardrobe with safe). Also, the smaller room had windows that cannot open / does not face outside (ie room becomes very dark when sleeping). It was abit of an issue moving to my side of bed, with lights off and without knocking into the bed, as walkway was really small.
Living room area was much more spacious (3 seater sofa, dining table for 4, hidden washing machine with detergent), and a full kitchenette (cooking hob, proper fridge, nespresso pixie etc). There was also a wash basin, along with a filtered water tap. The 2nd toilet is between the 2 bedrooms, at living room area. Each bed came with 2 pillows each (hurray!), with electric outlet plugs on each side of bed.
Breakfast is at ground level (buffet style, food is very average). There is to be alot of vehicles (Grab app is main ride hailing app) around the area, so no issues getting transport.
Pros Filtered water tap in room 4min walk to Avenue K Mall (start of sheltered linkway that connects all the way to Pavilion Mall - starting underground then overhead after KLCC) Nice rooftop open air swimming pool (with killer view of twin towers, especially pretty at night)
Cons Not quite central location, but some might appreciate the quietness Design of shower stall door is flawed. After shower, water drips all over the shower door and onto the floor, making the floor very slippery. Yes, there is a floor towel provided, but the towel soaks up too much water very quickly. A danger not just for elderly, but anyone (it's an accident waiting for happen). One of my group experienced a short circuit in their room late at night (seems to be from use of hotel hairdryer). The room phone didn't work, had to go to lobby to get help. 1st time i heard of a blackout in the room. The next morning, the gym also experienced a short circuit. Same building also houses a service apartment residence, so only half of the lifts (3 or 4) can be used to get to the rooms. Hotel uses a 3rd party vendor to manage uograde options prior to arrival. I received an email to upgrade to a 2 Bedroom Premier, when i had already booked the same room, and the email states my room is a standard room instead. That caused some panic (incorrect booking by hotel), but reaching out to the hotel, some lame reason was given and i was told to just ignore the upgrade email. Ascott management needs to fix this nonchalance!
Hotel needs to fix the shower door and short circuit issues. Otherwise, i think this is a decent location to be close enough to city centre, but not noisy or jammed...
Read moreWe stayed in a very spacious one bedroom apartment, well appointed and comfortable. There was also a small second room with a desk and a single couch. Very clean, spacious kitchen should you wish to prepare meals: stovetop, microwave, coffee pod machine (2 complimentary pods, can purchase more if you wish), full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher. Sufficient crockery, cookware and glassware. Also tucked away in a cupboard is a washer/dryer and a small amount of washing powder is provided. One of the biggest benefits when traveling! It has quick cycles and washes and dries well (drying cycle may need up to 1h30m, depending on what you’re drying). Huge bathroom with tub and the usual amenties are provided: body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and paste, shaver, body lotion.
In the bedroom you will find: slippers, cotton robes (available for purchase), umbrella (also available for purchase), scales (super handy to weigh your luggage!) and a safe. Ironing board and iron also provided, as well as hairdryer. Bed is comfortable, perhaps a tad on the firm side. We didn’t expect regular housekeeping of the room (stated as twice weekly) however we found our room was serviced with a neat tidy up and clean towels every day - maybe we were lucky!
Internet connection in-room is fine. Smart TV in both the separate living area and bedroom; we were able to stream directly from our mobile handset and watch movies/shows from our streaming account (eg Netflix).
HUGE swimming pool on Level 6 and there’s also a rooftop pool on level 56 (called Level 99, don't go looking for the 99th floor haha) with a very spectacular view of the Petronas Towers. Grab your pool towels from reception. There is also a restaurant on the top floor however this can get very busy so it’s advisable to book.
Downstairs in the foyer is a self-service Starbucks station or if you wish a sweet coffee shop is right next to the foyer serving lovely coffees and delicious breakfasts and baked goods.
Excellent location with a convenience store 500m away or take a short walk to Avenue K mall where you'll find Village Grocer (full supermarket) as well as a detached shop selling wines and beers (this does close earlier than Village Grocer, approximately 9pm). Wine aficionados note: wine is quite expensive! (or we are too spoilt for choice in South Australia? :) )
Staff are super helpful; we had arranged for an extra half day’s accomodation at the tail end of our trip due to a late departing flight and then needed to extend our stay by another 3 hours as our flight got delayed. They offered us a decent rate for the extra 3 hours.
Would absolutely stay here again; the comfort and convenience of such a large self-contained apartment with amenities at your fingertips made for a very enjoyable stay. If you’re looking for comfort, space and every amenity for a great stay look...
Read moreTaking my family to KL for the first time for a week. I was looking for somewhere decent, with 2 bedrooms, 2 separate bathrooms and preferably with a kitchenette. This place ticks all the boxes.
Given it is a hotel apartment, we get housekeeping everyday which is also a big bonus than Air Bnb. Price was very reasonable for the place size of the apartment. We hope this stays the same so we get to return more often.
The place was clean but a little dusty - perhaps it has been vacant for a while. The beds are so comfortable that we all had good night sleeps. The pillows could be better though. AC also works well but we were lucky during our week, it was not hot nor humid. The decor and furnishing were quite modern and sleek too. It is just kind of annoying the wardrobe lights are wired to the master switch in the master bedroom (not the same in the second bedroom). Other than we cannot find faults. Washing machine, fridges, microwave were all in working order. Lots of plates, cups, bowls and cutlery were available and good for 4. They even provided washing powder, dish washing liquid and sponges.
Staff are also very friendly and helpful. From the bell boy, the front desk staff and especially the housekeeping team. While I heard there are fantastic facilities (a 25m-long pool in the podium and a smaller rooftop pool), they are magnificent.
The only complaint I had was the construction noise. I didn't think I saw that warning before making the booking. The fact that construction stops on weekends but we all got woke up by the noise at 9.30am on a Saturday was disappointing. We only had a few hours of sleep as it was a very late arrival the night prior.
We never had breakfast or food at the Hotel. But I think there is a bar which serves food as well. There is a surprisingly authentic Italian restaurant just around the corner from the hotel, they can deliver to the hotel. Strongly recommended if you need your regular pasta/ pizza fix.
We are a few minutes away from the PETRONAS towers, the Suria KLCC Mall, the Avenue Mall where the KLCC Metro (LRT) station is located. Grab taxis (similar to Uber) are unimaginably expensive for the price and types of car. Prices also fluctuate hugely within a few minutes. So from time to time, using public transport is a good idea too. A 24/7 7-11 is nearby too which is a big bonus!
All is all, strongly recommended hotel...
