Visited recently and left with mixed feelings.
Ordering System: The QR-code ordering process really needs work. The page kept loading endlessly, and even after I submitted my order I kept getting prompts saying it wasn’t confirmed and to check with the counter. After three attempts I finally approached the staff - only to find the order had actually gone through. A simpler, more user-friendly system would make the experience far less frustrating.
Food: • Herbal Mee Sua: Mild to the point where the herbal flavour was barely noticeable. • Chicken Rice Ball: chicken was smooth and tender, rice ball - ok • Laksa: Average, nothing memorable. • Curry Chee Cheong Fun: Served only lukewarm and tasted so-so. • Tea / Milk Tea / Ginger Milk Tea: Pleasant
Other Impressions: • Price: Affordable for the portion sizes. • Ambience: Clean and ok for a casual meal. • Parking: Plenty of spaces during non-peak hours. • Service: Reasonable waiting time and one of the staff (young Chinese lady) were courteous and especially helpful. She was manning the pastries side. • There’s also a selection of traditional Chinese biscuits and pastries for those who like to pick up snacks or gifts.
Overall, it’s a decent stop if you’re nearby and want something quick and inexpensive, but the food is mostly average and the digital ordering experience definitely needs an upgrade before I’d consider coming back more often.
** Tried the pineapple tart in pandan, original, and taro flavours, and honestly, it was a disappointment. All three tasted virtually identical ~ overly sweet with none of the distinct pandan or taro notes that were promised. The texture was nothing special either, and the flavouring felt artificial. If you’re hoping for variety or authentic taste, don’t bother; it’s not worth the calories or the price...

The highlight of their menu is undoubtedly the chicken rice balls, which are perfectly cooked, fragrant, and flavorful. Each bite reflects the traditional taste Melaka is famous for, paired wonderfully with their tender and juicy chicken. It's a dish that’s both nostalgic and satisfying.
Their coffee deserves special mention too, especially the special Sai Ka Hor (teh+milo) which is my all time fav! Rich, aromatic, and perfectly brewed, it’s a great companion to the meal and a treat for any coffee enthusiast.
In addition to their signature dishes, they also serve delicious pastries that are freshly made and perfect for a light snack or dessert. A unique touch to their hospitality is the free tasting offered, allowing customers to try their specialties before deciding.

Read moreDin Fung Kee at Kota Syahbandar in Melaka offers a cozy, casual setting for those looking to enjoy classic Malaysian comfort food with a local twist. We stopped by for lunch and sampled a few of their popular items — and the experience didn’t disappoint.
The chicken curry mee was rich and fragrant, with a creamy coconut curry base that hit the right balance of spice and flavor. The noodles were springy, and the addition of tender chicken pieces made the bowl feel hearty and satisfying.
We also tried the roasted chicken with rice balls, a Melakan specialty. The chicken was well-roasted with crispy skin and juicy meat, while the rice balls were tightly packed and aromatic — a nostalgic nod to traditional Hainanese chicken rice served in a more playful form.
The egg tarts were a pleasant surprise — flaky, buttery pastry with a silky smooth custard filling that wasn’t overly sweet. A great little treat to round off the meal.
To wash it all down, the local-style coffee was robust and aromatic, served strong with a hint of condensed milk for that familiar kopitiam touch.
Service was efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed with both locals and visitors enjoying a casual meal. If you’re exploring Melaka and want a taste of familiar flavors done right, Din Fung Kee is a reliable and...
