The idea of a relaxing, informative cruise down the river is supposed to be scenic and enjoyable but the experience from the get go is so infuriating that everything else added up to a subpar experience. Let me explain - once you get the tickets you are immediately directed to a photo booth where they forcibly take your photo. I don't know which part of the privacy laws they don't understand that they are not allowed to do that without your consent. After that you are herded like sheep into a queue where you wait until they have enough people to run the boat. The cruise itself with the erratic PA system coupled with the smell from the river was a disaster. Halfway there, I was already hoping they can turn back. I pity the folks sitting up at the front that were constantly splashed by the river water that really burns the eyes even though I was seated in the middle. The dark green murky river water looks and smells less than sanitary. Once the ride is over did I realize all they wanted to do is to sell you the photos they took earlier. This kind of heavy-handed behavior is not representative of the Malaysian hospitality that we are trying to show the world and definitely does not score any points if you are trying to attract tourists. Until they fix these issues I definitely will not recommend.

Need to know: 45 minutes cruise down the river from the historical part of town. Tickets are available all day and all week but you pay more on Friday to Sunday. Go outside of the afternoon as it gets very hot and would be uncomfortable. I went mid morning and it was very pleasant. Pros: There are some pretty buildings and bridges. We had a guide who was quite knowledgeable. The highlights are the monitor lizards who swim the river and rest on the banks. The boat pilot stopped and reversed for photo opportunities. Cost wise, at 20ish RM it's not bad for the length of journey. Cons: as other reviewers said. The river is quite polluted. It's a shame really. You can walk the banks the entire route if you want for free and stop off in the bars en route. Some might prefer that than forking out for the boat trip. Suitable for: anyone really

I went on Sat night (24/12), the Q ws horrendous. After Q'ing almost 1 hour, suddenly it started raining. So the boat ride temporarily closed then it started to hv water ponding/ flood a bit at the Q'ing area. Can u imagine small space packed with all human taking sheltered from the rain in one place? Super hot n humid drenched with sweat. My daughter started to cry. I also start panicking. So the boat operation asked to come again on the nxt day. Thus, nxt day to search parking ws nuisance. N to Q summore. Apparently, the Q ws not too long. Finally we get to ride on the boat. It ws quite a long ride. I'd say 30 mins ride i think. Satisfied enough. Just the hassle of searching parking and Q'ing. Altho, night ride might hv better scenery, I suggest to go during the day cz shorter Q and also not so hot and breezy compared in nighttime

The boat experience is great, and the entrance to the upside-down house, which is included for Free of charge, is wonderful. However, the Indian worker at Jetty 19 is so useless. She was playing on her phone and not paying attention to her surroundings. She did not notice the people who had been waiting for the boat the longest and allowed people who had just arrived at the jetty to ride the boat. We had to wait a very long time to get back on the boat. If no one got off the boat, we had to wait for another boat. It took us 30 minutes just waiting for a boat that was available to get on. We wasted a lot of time just waiting for the boat. For the management, please ensure that your workers do their jobs properly.

This is the rudest staff i’ve ever met in my life. There’s a crowd and I understand managing the tourists is difficult. However, this guy was shouting and yelling at all the customers like he’s managing a herd of cows. He was EXTREMELY rude treating people like dogs. How do you expect to give any form of services if you hire staff with no manners or any form of decency. I have attached the picture of this entitled guy that was practically SCREAMING at us for no reason. How is this acceptable at any place? We are paying customers and we expect to be treated like humans. Please don’t allow such rude behaviour, and teach your staff some basic human courtesy and respect.
