I was here during the RMCO in August 2020. I think the owners were coaxing people to pay for a hidden entrance fee by "selling" decorative magnets at the entrance of the house. They told me that I could buy one of their magnets for RM 8. I didn't want to buy any so I politely declined. I was under an impression that the house was free for viewing so I proceeded to see what they had on display. They didn't have much on exhibit except a collection of old photographs of the Malacca city from late 90s. Before I left, they said I should pay RM 8 for entering the house and take one of their magnets. I asked them to clarify if that was an entrance fee, they uttered a resounding yes. I didn't put up much resistance, I just paid them the fee and left with no magnets because I. DID. NOT. WANT. MAGNETS (?!). Granted, I would have bought the magnets if they were interesting enough e.g., attractive design, coated in enamel, etc.

One of the owners were very informative about the local development history of the city but this place is getting a low-star rating from me. It's such a shame that I experienced this because I love the Peranakan culture and...

I came across this charming place by chance when I was exploring the streets on foot. It is a beautiful place and house itself is huge (it is one of the longer ones in that street). There are antiques, knick knacks and souvenirs being sold here but the real attraction of this place is the building itself. Visitors can explore the ground floor as well as the first floor but the attic is closed to the public. The back portion houses the kitchen and according to literature there, it used to be a stable there as well. The hosts are warm and friendly and eager to explain the history behind their...

Very romantic museum and antiques shop set in an original Peranakan house. Cheap entry fee includes a cute little tile souvenir printed with traditional tile pattern.

Reasonable prices on the antiques. Parts of the house is in the process of repair, but the old walls only add to the charming historical atmosphere. Interesting photo exhibit and drawings of vintage Melaka port upstairs. The proprietor is also a pleasant man who is happy to chat.

If you love poking around old buildings and hunting for antiques, this...

I always amazed with peranakan houses. This house cum museum are said to be 208ft long and 150 years old. The floor tiles are all original. Restoration of this beautiful place started just 30years ago by the new buyer. The corridors are long, the door panel is made of thick hardest wood, probably the belian. As we walked upstairs, there's an old vintage garment that made from thick grass worn by people of China during winter. This one too was well preserved. Pls do visit this house if you come to Malacca.

It's not just another local lifestyle museum, but a very recently and partly currently living estate of the local mid-wealthy Malaccan Chinese-originating nyonya family, that has carefully preserved its family history in all possible forms - starting from architecture, rooms' decor and furniture to photos and cutlery. Personally, I enjoyed every minute of bring there and have spent quite significant amount of time just wondering around mansion's nearly numerous rooms, halls, patios and other spaces
