Always my top choice for hotpot when I'm in Genting, we always order their mala hotpot as it's satisfying eating mala hotpot in a cold weather up in the mountains, another soup which we always order is the collagen soup which is creamy and nice to drink or to wash always the mala taste in your mouth. They will also give each a packet of yoghourt drink to create a protective layer for your stomach against the spicy mala soup which I feel it's quite good especially to also start to meal with some yoghourt milk as appetizer drink. They have a wide range of sauces and condiments to mix yourself and also fruits which we always love the watermelon as it's very tasty and refreshing. The spicy beef meat is one of the dishes we always order to go with the mala soup, the meat has their own special mala marination which is not over spicy or numb, however flavourful with full of mala spices. The slice pork belly is also decently nice, it's less on fat and more on the meat. Another favourite is the liver which they will serve you with each slices of liver hanging on individual wooden stick(like hanging clothing) which you can carefully remove stick by stick and cook in the hotpot by a stirring motion of the stick. The liver slices are big and also doesn't have any "pungent liver taste", it's very nice to bite and it's kind of juicy too as it's slices are big and thicker then usual, they will also serve you chilli powder and peanuts to dipped your liver in it. The imperial princess beef will be served with a raw egg in the middle and they will help you to marinate infront of you. The staff here are friendly and attentive, they will also constantly topped up your soup, clear your plates and also remove the top layer soup of "oil and residue". The portions are quite big thus don't over order which we always tend to do so even after eating a couple of times here.

This is a pretty good hotpot place for around 379rm for the 4 of us. We got the three soup bases, which is just 1rm more than 2 bases at 49rm. The tomato soup was pretty good, a bit more sour. The mala we got the small spice which is still pretty spicy, and the staff were nice enough to help us remove the chilli. My favourite is the beauty collagen bone soup which is really meaty and savoury. You can taste the corn giving it a slight sweetness too. And i think cooking the meat in this soup was the best tasting one. The dumplings were alright, but i really liked the pork mushroom meat balls. They have a great texture and really meaty flavour. Cheese tofu is good as always, the other veg and tofu we tried were good. Cooking our instant noodles in the mala soup was really good. It’s very spicy and mouth watering. Since the mala is so spicy, the staff gave us each a juice packet as well. The fine fish was really good. It’s not super fishy and has a nice texture when cooked properly. The premium sliced pork belly we got was alright. We also got the sliced lamb and beef platter. I personally preferred the lamb here as it’s got more flavour, especially when cooked in the bone broth, but otherwise the meat aren’t too special. Overall this hotpot place is pretty good. The service is amazing, staff are all really friendly. Mala is probably too spicy for us to order next time, even with small spice. The meat is alright, it’s not the best, but everything else was pretty good.

This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant. The 1st visit was via "walk-in" reservations and it was very slow. My 2nd visit here and it was an extremely poor customer service. I made a reservation in advance in order to get a better table to avoid getting placed at the back corner near the washing and food preparations area. Arriving at the restaurant early, there were many empty seats available but I was brought over to the back corner exactly where I wanted to avoid. I requested the waitress to change my table to another location but was rejected as the tables were reserved. While standing at the table the service crew that was washing the plates and serving metal trays kept dropping them on the floor causing loud banging sounds that kept frightening my 7th month old baby. In a short span of less than 3 minutes trying to talk to the waitress to seek their help to relocate my table, the cleaning crew dropped the metal tray more than 7 times. After finally being offered a table slightly further away from the loud noise my family and I started to have my meal. Food was average and ventilation was still very bad. Halfway into our meal, I was told by the waitress that we left 30mins left as there was a time limit and the next customer will arrive to "take over" our table. I was taken aback as this wasn't mentioned to me at the beginning of my meal. I asked if we could extend the time as my family had to take turns to eat as I had to take care of my baby. However I was told that no extension of timing as the next customer would be arriving soon. I explained to the waitress that we were not told that there was a time limit and if I had known at the start before I ordered the dishes, I would have cancelled and went elsewhere to have my dinner. In the end, I had to leave without finishing my meal as I was reminded again on the time that I had to leave. It was a very unpleasant feeling being chased to leave. Please avoid coming to this restaurant if you have babies/kids that you need to feed unless if you don't mind eating a little bit or wasting food. Horrendous customer service for the forgetfulness in sounding off the most important information such as a "time limit".

A friend frequented this Shu Da Xia Hotpot in Genting Highlands. Highly recommended that I try since I’m a fan of Mala Hotpot, as I had it almost daily while on solo trip in China, Aug-Oct 2023. I’m quite impressed with this 蜀大俠, as it’s almost ‘cloned’ to perfection, as in Sichuan ie. Panda Decors, Taste etc. I like the settings, clean & hygienic condiments spread with cut fruits (surcharge myr8++ p/pax). Menu is almost the same, maybe slightly lesser, as compared to Yunnan/Sichuan, but it’s still a relatively good varieties to choose from. Poultry (Beef, Lamb, Pork + its internal organs); Vegetables; Staple Foods etc prices ranging from myr10-myr100++ for selection. Portion is quite small though. As for the broth based, there are 1, 2 (myr48++) & 3 (myr49++) flavours available with a different of just myr1. We opted 3-flavour. Total bill: approx. myr240 for 2 pax, mainly 4-5 vegetables & 1 Sweet Potato Vermicelli Noodles (Thick) 紅薯寬粉for me to share, and 1 meat + 1 gizzard for my friend. Servers were attentive to top-up broths & offered to remove scummy substance (white frothy foam) & layer of oils / chilli from the hotpot. Restaurant can be very noisy, perhaps due to the PRC’s culture, tends to speak loudly. Servers greeted customers when walk-in & bid farewell at the end of dining, quite similar to Japanese restaurant, which I don’t really like. Overall, I had an enjoyable dining experience. That’s a one time patronage for me :)

Sichuan style hotpot that is similar concept to HDL. They are quite popular and always have a queue. So either make a reservation in advance or come early to avoid long waiting times. The interior is nicely designed with the modern chinese theme and it’s huge. The menu is quite extensive. They have this fish noodles which u don’t normally see. Another special dish is the imperial princess beef which is basically sliced beef marinated in this milky sauce. We had the triple broth pot namely the signature mala soup, collagen bone soup and a clear mushroom soup. The mala really is as spicy as the ones i had in sichuan. No joke this one. The bone broth is flavorful and filled with umami. The mushroom is a nice clear soup with a rich mushroom taste. I like how they indicate the cooking time on their menu. So my usual style is if i wanna eat spicy i will dip the ingredients in the mala soup take it out without the mala soup onto my bowl and add a spoonful of the bone broth. I don’t use the condiments cause i feel it fks up the taste. But that’s just personal preference. The condiments here look pretty standard. They dun have free flow desserts like u see in hdl as well. Only got fruits. And it’s pretty pricey as well. The ingredients are gd la. But i guess if u want quality hotpot in this area this is prob ur best bet liao. 2 pax Rm300 but i think we ate like a baller. Prob Rm250 should be quite filling liao.

OMG, I kept thinking of this after coming home from Genting. Will be the reason that I wanna go to Genting again. Their ingredients are so fresh & soups are so tasty that we kept ordering more & more till we can’t eat anymore. Spent RM552 for 4 persons. Decent price for the quality of their food. My friends warned about the mala soup being very spicy despite 小辣 so I asked the staff to help me take out the spices as soon as it’s served although it still burn the hell out of us lol. ( Can see from the last 2nd photo the amount of their mala 😱..) Fine fish fillet.. is so sweet & tender. Tai chi mashed shrimp 🤤.. the sliced pork liver that took forever to come, I can understand why. It’s sliced so thinly u had to use spoon with chopsticks to pick them up. But wth is it so Q ~ Marinated pork ribs is MALA marinated & has to be cooked for 20mins ?? In the mala soup that we shunned cause it’s too spicy lol but hell it’s so tender & flavourful that even my mum who says she full continues to eat it 🤭.. Lastly the egg fried rice.. it’s so white & looks like nothing much but it’s also so tasty 🥲… Staffs are all youngsters & service are very good too. They had to keep shouting their welcome messages which my mum finds it a little bit irritating cause she got a shock every time they shouted. But it’s their job so nothing wrong about it. Want to go back for it asap. Keep up the good work !!
