Head to Gohtong Jaya and you'll find more restaurants than other establishments among the long stretch of shop houses here. I will not say which restaurant is the best as everyone has their favourite place to dine when it comes to this area.
I was informed by a friend about this lesser-known Tak Kee almost at the end of this row. Loong Kee and Chuan Kie are considered tai kor here.. but Tak Kee impressed me on my two (yes, I'd come twice) visits.
Pay attention to a middle aged man helping around in the restaurant. He is a man of few words, focusing on what he does best - serving customer! He was so attentive and dedicated to his job, outshining the usually hardworking foreigners there.
◾Minced Ginger Steamed Fish Lips - the spiciness from the chilly, the hotness from the Bentong ginger and the tanginess from the lime made the whole dish different. As a matter of fact, I loved this plate! ◾Ginger Slices Fried Chicken - generous amount of chicken and ginger slices were given. I couldn't stop munching! ◾Fried Saury Fish Cake - order this for simple yet tasty deep fried fish cake dipped into chilly sauce. ◾Steamed Egg with Otak-Otak - it had the beautiful aroma of sesame oil. I could taste the fish flakes in the Otak-Otak too. ◾Superior Clam Soup with Prawns - ever noticed the extra bowl of soup next to the dish? So thoughtful to provide extra soup making it so warming to drink in the chilling weather. Both prawns & clams were fresh and big in size. One of the best in town! ◾Fried Pork Belly is something that you'd find in Bentong regardless the town area, Bukit Tinggi and this was no exception in Gohtong Jaya. Crispy pork belly coated in sticky sweet and savoury sauce.

Read moreSee good reviews so decided to try instead of the normal shop that we go. Their restaurant dish are quite similar to every others restaurant a while. Most likely is a concept that is share within gohtong jaya. Ordered fried pork belly, glass noodle prawn clay pot soup, fried water crest vegetable and watan hor.
Pork belly are good but a bit too salty. Very nice crisp and balanced fat and lean meat. Pair well with the fresh onions.
Claypot prawn with glass noodle are average. Prawn are fresh and quite good size. The soup lacking a bit umami. Not strong enough on the rice wine.
Stir fried water crest vegetable are ok. Fresh vege but again not too much taste too it. Not sure if is because the salt has all go to the pork.
Watanhor are ok. Nothing to shout out which the noodle got good wok hei on it.
Overall food are ok. Still I prefer the other restaurant that I always go too. But what I like is their service. The staff are very attentive. There is one time a lorry was parked beside the shop and gas fume come into the eatery and the staff ask them park away. Then it was raining and they offer to umbrella us to the car. Good job on that. Most likely will not return but commend them for...

Our 1st dish arrived, Hokkien Mee! I asked for the Lady Boss that we ordered Hokkien Mee Hoon & Mee noodles and not just Mee alone. Lady Boss went back her counter and checked and came back to our table and said 'The foreign worker cooked wrongly'. Although we ordered Hokkien Mee Hoon & Mee noodles. Lady Boss went on and say 'If you want Hokkien Mee Hoon & Mee noodles, you will need to wait very long cos it's crowded! Not only that Lady Boss DIDN'T APOLOGISE, she was very SARCASTIC and said, if you can wait, wait. But, will be long. I told her, MISTAKES is done by your side, we ordered Hokkien Mee Hoon & Mee noodles and served wrongly!! We just want our Hokkien Mee Hoon & Mee noodles served.
