I read reviews before deciding to bring my entire family for a CNY dinner. First impression quite good during reservation, attentive. They asked for RM100 deposit which is fair especially during festive period.

When we reach the restaurant, first impression - understaff and lady boss and waiters who cannot take stress and does not know how to manage clients expectations (in order words, simply rude and arrogant)

Ambience - 8/10, nice place but pretty cramp but still good

Food - 2/10, most of the dishes tasted bland including the famous abacus dish. To be honest, nothing worth to mention. I think I can get better Hakka dishes from Chap Fan stall.

Service - negative/10 and I would not return again. The vibe given away by the lady boss was just arrogant and ignorant. They came very early on with a dish which we ordered in small size but asked if we are ok to take the big size. We agreed as we don’t want to create a fuss, but there after they left us with that one dish for 10 mins without rice and we asked if that was a ‘rejected’ dish by another customer and they said yes. They could be honest and ask nicely if we will accept it. We asked for an exchange but she very reluctantly offered to reheat the dish (it’s very rare for F&B to do such thing, usually they are very willing to take it back if fault is their end). Had to spend another 10 mins trying to get their attention and argue before they accepted to replace with another dish and not forgetting to mention they kept giving us dishes in wrong sizes. She even threatened me that any changes in dishes I will need to wait until all the other orders in front are done.

To all, think twice and over again before coming - my very honest opinion and spending 15 minutes to share this so everyone...

Worst ever experience dining at ipoh. Unfriendly, unprofessional, rude and arrogant waiter & waitress. Very defensive, and insisted that our orders were not their Hakka dishes (we actually ordered Hakka's dish 算盘子 Taro abascus balls etc) . C'mon, pls take them out from your menu if you don't feel proud serving them. The waitress even dare to show off her attitude, roll her eyes to us commenting on our order, forcefully took back her menu even before we finished our order. Maybe she woke up at the wrong side of her bed. Frankly, if you don't feel like serving people, leave your job there. Don't humiliate the nice environment/ambience of the restaurant. Putting aside the poor service, the dishes are so-so. The taro abacus balls, plain taste. Buburchacha, the yam and sweet potato are super hard, probably not cooked yet. The vegetable (we order stir fry Chinese spinach 清炒苋菜) mushy and mashed, I had never seen vege cooked like that before. Vinegar pork knuckle was ok. Fried chicken, please do not order that. It was a crime. It was not "fried chicken" but "fried chicken cube", maybe their version of "hakka style". Hakka mince meat toufu, normal. You will never get special mention ever if you are at other places. Glutinous rice mochi with peanut butter filling, my kid can't even swallow it, spit it out after one bite. Overall, it is over-rated and it is pricey. Not worthy to pay that kind of money for the deco. We had tried many other Hakka restaurant with nice nice food. Their customer service, attitude, and arrangance is a BIG BIG Turn Off. Hope you will rectify it before you spoil the good name of Hakka food & especially Ipoh as a...

Had the worst dining experience in this restaurant!

Dont know how they could have that many stars and rating at 4.4? Dont deserve that rating at all.

If you had experience in managing a restaurant for so many years how could you even create such bad management on foods coordination.

Each dishes that came have to wait atleast 15minutes gap. And portion is so damn small. Taste was just meh.

And to get the first dish to be served, we waited for almost an hour. And they just just 1 vegetable dish. Then the waiting game start again as we have to wait for another 15minute for the next dish.

Kids and elderly are hungry and no longer want to eat anymore as the rice is cold too while waiting for the other dishes.

To make it worst, they dont even know the ingredients finished. Keep on cancelling our orders, then ask us to change others. Then came back saying no more. Might as well ask us to not order and just leave.

We made reservation first so they already know how many pax and tables they have that night. If cant manage dont take in so many reservations. The shop isnt big too. Just 10 tables or lesser. Still couldnt manage it. Dont come here. If you want to hunger yourself,...

We settled for dinner at this hakka restaurant in ipoh which was within walking distance from our hotel. It turned out to be a very good decision. The interior design of the restaurant is very unique and has the joyous traditional chinese wedding theme which the boss said, was designed by his wife. The boss is super friendly even after we told him that we just order a few dishes in small size, as we aren’t exactly hungry. We ordered several of their signature dishes in small size and we loved it, devoured everything. Delicious! We also happened to bump into a famous chinese principal who flew down from KL to Ipoh for an alumni gathering, the restaurant hosted their alumni calligraphy gathering with an calligraphy event written by this chinese principal outside their restaurant and while we were expressing interest in their calligraphy and decor , the principal decided to gift us chinese tui lian with beautiful words of blessings! The boss also showed us the 2nd level of the restaurant which they intend to use to exhibit calligraphy and chinese paintings to preserve traditional chinese culture, super lovely chanced encounter! Very blessed!

Type: Chinese Restaurant Signature: Hakka Dishes Restaurant specializes in Traditional Hakka Dishes and overall... Every dish we ordered was delicious!!! We especially liked the Tong Bo Rou with Peanuts (5 🌟) which was cooked to perfection. This is probably the only time I do not mind the fats on the pork meat. The steamed fish (5 🌟) was also steamed and cooked to perfection. We especially liked the Salted Steamed Chicken (4.5 🌟) which was unexpectedly good. Another dish I would recommend is the Fried Prawns (5 🌟) which was not too sweet, not too cooked and its super delicious. Also like the Bo Bo Cha Cha (5 🌟) there which was rich, creamy and not too sweet. On the overall, excellent food, excellent customer service but... place is a bit pricey. In fact most of the reviews gave lower stars because of the prices. If you do not mind higher prices.. This is the perfect Hakka restaurant to go for excellent traditional Hakka dishes. Taste Rating 9/10 Ambience Rating 9/10 Service Rating 10/10 Value Rating 8/10

As a Hakka person that speak Hakka dialect, naturally would like to try some traditional Hakka dishes. Heard about this restaurant for some time, so this evening decided to give it a try. Ordered one of their signature dishes, black pomfret (ikan bawal hitam) cooked with salty sour pickled vegetables. The taste was very delicious and bon appetite. Fish meat was tasty, not hard indicating that it was quite fresh and was just stored in the cold room of the fridge and not deep frozen. To thaw a deep frozen fish in running water, it took about 20 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the fish. In most restaurants, in a hurry to serve, the fish was fried before it was completely defrosted thus rendering the resultant fish meat hard and tasteless. Not the case in this restaurant. I like the rice they served too. It was not white rice but brown rice. The fish was about 700-800g. However to pay more than RM80 for this meal as a solo diner, I think it was slightly expensive.
