Have been patronizing this place since I was a kid for their excellent unique Ipoh style fried Hor Fun and Wat Tan Hor up until recently visited the place, to my disappointment, this outlet at the Ipoh Garden Medan area, served me a tasteless and bland wat tan hor. It is so bad to the point when I took my first mouthful, I already didn't feel like eating a second scoop. Was thinking maybe if I mixed it a bit more the flavor could be at the bottom of the bowl but sadly it confirmed my first opinion after consuming the second scoop of noodles. Left the entire bowl of wat tan hor untouched and left straight away. Not even worth staying for a minute longer Tasteless, bland, no "wok hei", no aroma, totally lack of ingredients and gone were the layers of flavours their hor fun were known for during their heydays. Definitely not worth visiting this place anymore. To make it worst, when I complained to the boss, he just said nothing and gladly collect the money from me without feeling sorry for their food at all. Shameless and you could feel they are operating this place without any passion and enthusiasm at all

Yeah, family business specialising in fried noodles, Cantonese or Hokkien style, since 1963. Original shops at Yau Tet Shin road: Tuck Kee restaurant and Sun Tuck Kee rsetaurant. Two different shops entirely operating on a tense competitive level. But then related in bloodline. In my opinion the former serves better quality fried noodles. Now this family business has sprouted in far off areas like in Bercham, Gunung Rapat and Medan Ipoh. As for this Medan Ipoh branch which was opened probably in late 2018, it has all the trademarks of Tuck Kee fried noodles from the menu, management and cooking style aspects. For newcomers to the Tuck Kee menu, do try the signature 'Yu Kong Hor' (月光河) (a.k.a. bright moon fried noodles) – stir-fried flat rice noodles served in creamy gravy and topped with an eye-catching raw egg. The trick is to quickly stir-mix the raw egg with the still steaming hot noodles and slurp up the delicious mixture. Wow! Need I say more? For side dishes, try the braised chicken feet in soy sauce, boil-cooked octopus or some bean sprouts.

Sadly to see a lot of fried noodle shops in Ipoh like to use the name of “Tuck Kee”, but the quality is not up to standard. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that their fried noodles were not good, just nothing to shout for. Previously tried their braised yee mee. Totally out. This round I gave their “yu kong hor” a go. Much better but there are still a lot of rooms for improvement. Not sure if I will still give it another go in future. Let’s hope they will get better 😎 And 2 things that the owner(s) should look into: 1. Cashless transactions are becoming more common in Malaysia, as QR and card payments are preferred. But this shop still accept ONLY cash. 2. Tissues are provided in most eateries, but not here. And worse still, they are not even selling one. When I asked the staff for tissue, he just opened the drawer and said “Oh, no more”.

Very very bad. We ordered through Grab, one of the items 燴飯 didn’t come with rice. We called the rider and he said there was no rice with him, and asked us to call the restaurant. On the front of the receipt, there is no phone number. On the back, it was the main outlet’s number. We called the main outlet but they said it was not their order. So we tried to search for the branch’s number on Google Maps, but the listed land line number had no answer after calling for more than half an hour. Then we tried Facebook, but the contact is again belongs to the main outlet. No choice I had to drive all the way to the restaurant to confront them. Eventually they offered a replacement item for free. The guy said they are unable to change the phone number on Google Maps. But I’m sure they can add their number in their receipt through the POS system. Simply ridiculous. No more...
