It's bound to happen. That is the discovery of a nasi kandar from Ipoh that doesn't suck. The standard basic package of nasi kandar Ipoh includes a piece of fried chicken in a spicy onion red sauce, a piece of ladyfinger, half of salted duck eggs and some cucumber slices, doused in a mixture of curries, the red sauce and a dollop of what was called sambal. The chicken is smokey and dry which loses points in texture but gains from taste with a good spice level but slightly less salt than what I want while the curry was fine, all within a plate of slightly firm rice. I find the sambal distracts the taste of nasi kandar. The fish roe was good but then again you need to be exceptionally or intentionally bad to mess that up but I find the beef to a tad tougher than expected while the taste is not pronounced enough. Long queues during lunchtime and I find the price to be acceptable and within the surrounding.
