I was searching for something to eat before going back to the hotel. When I saw it on the map.
Being adventurous I wanted to try their Mala Ramen. When he asked how spicy I would like it, originally I thought maybe just regular spicy.
But then I thought about it, I’m not going to be back in Ipoh again until who knows when, full send extra spicy.
I was not disappointed. Although it made me sweat, the spice was not overwhelming to the taste of the rich broth which was enhanced by the umami of the meat and seaweed. The boiled egg was made to perfection and the noodles just nice.
The service was exquisite as well and the staff were kind and attentive. The portion of ramen was perfect to leave a bit of room for desert.
Wanting to try it all I ordered the cheesecake, daifuku, and the mochi. Again utter perfection. The mochi and daifuku were my favorite of the dessert due to the chewy and warm rice cake. The cheesecake was wonderful as well with a crème brûlée like top and smooth cream.
If you come to Ipoh, this is a place to try. I know it’s not a traditional local cuisine, but it’s worth the trip on its own. Plus it’s very IG/livestream friendly as the phone connection without wifi is full bars of 4g lte...
Read moreIt was a quiet Saturday evening in the restaurant when I walked in at 6pm. Being the only customer there, I had the whole restaurant for myself and relish getting served first.
The white tonkotsu arrived within a reasonable waiting time. The bowl has a perfectly cooked ramen in a thick, flavoursome white broth topped with a slightly sweet-tasting chashu, soft-boiled egg, crunchy wood ear mushroom, chopped green onions and a sprinkling of sesame seeds. The taste? Wonderful. I saved a little of the ramen and broth to mix with Nanami Togarashi (assorted chilli pepper), making it spicy. I got a whole new taste which was even more delicious.
The yakitori of enoki mushroom wrapped with bacon was better than I imagined. As I munch on the crunchy enoki, the savoury meat juices from the bacon oozes out with each bite. They are a great combination in texture and flavour.
The hot honey yuzu that I had, ended the meal with a sweet and refreshing note. Would love to come back and try their...
Read moreThe service and atmosphere is good but the food was not up to my expectations. I ordered black garlic ramen however there are no garlic taste except oily feel. The broth also kinda disappointment as my expectations is the broth should be creamy and full of flavor but I only taste salty. I'm sorry to say but it remind me of Nissin ramen instead. The ginger should be set aside instead directly put into the soup. The edamame also kinda not up to my expectations, it should be cook in the salt water instead of putting the salt on the outside which the overall experience is just very salty. The cheesecake also just taste meh. Although most of the food kinda let down, the gyoza is good and the dipping sauce which using the pomelo is very refreshing....
