Sedap Ipoh Old Town — Restaurant in Perak

We were recommended to come to this restaurant by our niece, who was a regular customer. In fact, people even thought that she partly own it...but obviously that far from the truth...The location is perfect, being near to the Ipoh Padang, and easily accessable from the main road. We were lucky to find two empty parking lots for our cars right in front of the restaurants.

Upon our arrival, we came to the realization that the current owner is well known by my wife, as he used to be her client when she was working in the bank, once upon a time. So, upon meeting Mr Saiful, it was with a strong sense of familiarity that they could converse comfortably. In fact, all the while we had been strong supporters of Rendang Tok Mak Nik, their most famous product.

Obviously, my choice of the menu for breakfast was already decided. Lemang has always been my favorite comfort food, especially during the Hari Raya celebrations. But in this restaurant it is part of the daily menu. So, the Chicken Rendang came in nicely, together with the Fried Egg and Teh Tarik, I had the best combination already.

This place specialty is actually their range of authentic selection of lauk pauk for lunch. But we were there for breakfast. We had the Kaya Toast, karipap and Mee Kari. Kaya toast was nice, airy, crunchy and had a balance spread of kaya and butter. At RM1.30 each, the karipap (not in pic) was huge, tasty and had generous amounts of potatoes filling. Mee kari also delicious but we thought it could be served much better by adding chicken fillets or cockles to complement the fish balls and fish...

Came here and had a lovely chat with Dominic. He enticed me to go into the mural artwork museum next door, which was 5RM to enter, then I could come and use that 5RM to have a coffee and food. I ended up chatting to him for an hour about everything Ipoh! Was so lovely I would love to go back and chat to him again! Thank you for making my stay in Ipoh one...
