Tried the wanton noodle (dry) today. It is one of the high rating restaurant in that area.
Overall the food is alright, I tried wanton noodle from many other places and have tried some that are really good. Often I find it frustrating when it comes to wanton noodle because I haven’t tried one that has tan-tan type 弹弹 noodle (some call it bamboo noodle), good soy sauce recipe, very tasty char siew (one that will melt), very good broth (soup base) and very nice prawn wanton. If you knew any please recommend to me, I’d pay 50% more or even 2x the normal wanton noodle price just to experience it.
For this restaurant, the noodle is good enough (not bamboo type of noodle), they have sui gao option (which I took), I think it would be perfect if they put prawn into it (I tasted one many many years ago at USJ 2, serious nice combo) and the soup in my view is normal only. I’d give more points (and I admit it tastes good) to the char siew (melt) and soy sauce recipe (or the brand they use).
TBH I hate self service in the F&B line. F&B is a service line, even the fork and spoon customer have to take themselves. Think about it, how many hands actually touch all those utensils? I think it is better to let the staff to provide it (with some SOP set to ensure their hands are clean before taking any utensils). Something to think about by the team. But hey, the team run the biz successfully for many years, I’m just 1 customer. So it may not be a relevant point for them to consider.
Overall, I think the food is good, price is reasonable, portion is generous. The cham (drinks) needs to be thicker (I felt it is quite diluted).
Food taste: 8/10 (char siew is good) Food portion: 8.5/10 Food option (menu choice): 7/10 Service: 5/10 (don’t like self service) Hygiene/ cleanliness: 7/10 (not above 7 because I don’t like the expose utensils and self service, who knows how many ppl actually touch the spoon before me). Environment: 8/10 (I went on a weekend morning, so it’s not very crowded yet at that time, it’s comfortable and feels good).
I would recommend ppl to give a try. Everyone has different...

Read moreIf you’re looking for a place that serves up nostalgia on a plate without the pretentious frills, this local gem has been holding it down for years with their wanton mee game. Let’s get one thing straight: this isn’t some Instagrammable, avant-garde fusion spot. It’s the kind of place where the food does the talking, and boy, does it have a lot to say.
The star of the show? Their char siew. Oh, honey, this the kind of char siew that dreams are made of—decadent, caramelized, and so tender it practically melts in your mouth. Pair it with their perfectly cooked wanton mee (springy, not soggy, just the way it should be), and you’ve got a dish that’s worth every calorie. Feeling adventurous? Go for the dry curry wanton mee. It’s a flavor bomb that’ll have you questioning why you ever settled for plain old noodles.
And let’s not forget the kuihs at the counter. These little bites of joy are no afterthought. The onde onde? Packed with so much gula melaka it’s like a sweet, gooey burst of surprise in every bite. Quality? On point.
Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: the drinks. The coffee? Let’s just say it’s… there. Weak and underwhelming, it’s the one thing that keeps this place from being a full-blown culinary masterpiece. But hey, nobody’s perfect, right?
At the end of the day, this place is all about great value for money. It’s a quick pit stop for a satisfying meal.
Rating: 8.5/10 (would be a 9 if the coffee didn’t...
