AFTERMEAL DESSERTS 🍨!!
Grateful for today… Stepping into Aftermeal Desserts @DamansaraUtama feels like you’re walking into a minimalist dream — bright white walls paired with soft orange accents, creating a clean, aesthetic space perfect for your Instagramand Tiktoks feeds!!
✨ 1. Ambience & Vibes
The vibe is calm during off-peak hours, but can get lively and buzzing during peak times. Warm lighting gives it a cozy touch, making it a great spot for afternoon hangouts, laptop work sessions, or even a sweet weekend date. This is the kind of place that makes you forget the world for a moment — just you and your dessert.
🍽️ 2. Signature Desserts You Must Try The star of the menu???
✨Iron Lady Milk Tea Kakigori (RM22) — an indulgence you won’t regret. Imagine fluffy, cloud-like shaved ice infused with the fragrant notes of Tieguanyin Oolong tea, layered with chewy homemade taro & sweet potato mochi and boba pearls. It’s delicate, balanced, and absolutely satisfying.
✨✨Royal Matcha Latte Kakigori Visualize a snowy matcha mountain that melts with a velvety whisper. Each spoonful brings vegetal depth with creamy, grassy sweetness — the red beans add heart, while mochi and pearls bring chew and joy. It’s a serene moment in a bowl, and totally photogenic.
✨✨✨Thai Milk Tea Kakigori This is nostalgia reinterpreted — creamy Thai tea boiled into silky shaved ice, lifting the signature Iron Lady into something delightfully exotic. The fragrant spices, the silky smoothness, it’s like a gentle hug in dessert form.
🧑🍳 3. Service Experience Although the concept is self-service (order at the counter, get a buzzer, collect your dessert when it’s ready), the staff make the experience warm. They’re friendly, quick, and even go out of their way to offer seats for those waiting during busy hours. They know the menu well and happily recommend if you can’t decide — a small detail, but it elevates the whole experience. Friendly staff guide you through the new line-up, recommending the matcha if you’re a green tea lover, or the Thai milk tea for a familiar twist. It’s thoughtful, unpretentious — just sweet as the desserts themselves.
💸 4. Price & Value
Desserts here range from RM16–RM22 — definitely pricier than your average local shaved ice, but the quality and creativity justify the price. Portions are generous and shareable, ingredients like handmade mochi and premium Oolong tea set this place apart. Compared to other hipster dessert bars, Aftermeal offers better value for the taste and presentation.
Expect to pay around RM28 for these premium kakigoris — a notch above the classics at RM22, but every ringgit is worth it. These new offerings feel elevated: artisanal, curated, and Instagram-ready. For that, they deliver excellent value.
Overall Ratings •Food (Matcha & Thai Tea): ⭐ 4.8/5 — bold flavors, refined textures, and extra wow factor. •Ambience: ⭐ 4.5/5 — still remains minimal and inviting; just as dreamy with new flavors. •Service: ⭐ 4.8/5 — friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the new menu. •Value: ⭐ 4.5/5 — premium price, but unique taste and presentation make it worth it.
🪩Personal Reflection This isn’t just dessert — it’s a memory wrapped in color and texture. The matcha kakigori feels like a forest meditation; the Thai milk tea one is reminiscent of warm summer nights. Malaysians, don’t just taste — experience it. I’m already dreaming of my next visit. Wajib repeat!
Improvement Suggestion •Consider offering half-size portions for those who want to try both new flavors without finishing a full bowl. •Or maybe low-sugar or dairy-free options (like oat milk versions) for inclusive indulgence.

First off, I lucked out and arrived just in time to avoid the epic queue I’ve heard tales of, strolling in around 7:30pm after my dinner. Of course, I had to go for the infamous Iron Lady Milk Tea Kakigori. FYI, "Iron Lady" here stands for Tie Guan Yin – in case you were expecting Margaret Thatcher to pop out of your dessert. It also comes with almond cracks and tiny red beans on the top and herbal grass jelly at some translucent pearls at the bottom. Additional bowls of sweet potato balls, taro balls and brown sugar jelly pearls are also served together in the set. We paid extra RM2 for the additional red beans 🫘 because their topping is too little.
Onto the taste, this is a very light shaved ice dessert that melts into milk tea. You could say that it’s similar to drinking milk tea at a premium cost. I didn’t find anything outstanding apart from how soft the shaved ice was to scoop and it melts in your mouth. No worries about a caffeine frenzy, though. Apart from that, i kind of wonder if i should order other options like the matcha or milo one. The selection of kakigoris is a tad limited.
Onto the ambience, I must admit it’s quite aesthetically pleasing. However, the AC wasn’t on and we had to ask the staff to lower the temperature. Let’s also talk about that menu QR code placement – knee-level scanning like what is that. It’s also self service here which means you order from your phone (have to give them phone number) and walk to the counter to pay, sit down and then collect your own food once you hear the buzz. Yes, even when there’s no other customers other than me. With plenty of empty tables nearby, it was a head-scratcher why they plopped us off to the side and not nearer to the counter.
In the end, was it worth the dietary detour? Let’s just say I’ll keep hunting for the holy grail...
Read moreFor dessert devotees, Aftermeal Desserts shouldn't be an afterthought. It's Damansara Uptown cafe has consistently earned widespread praise, respect and consideration for refreshingly icy and soothingly hot temptations that take inspiration mainly from Japan and Taiwan.
Expectations were heightened before visited, but even then, it is pleasantly surprised - Aftermeal Desserts has nailed the formula for satisfying customers by focusing on top-flight ingredients and fine-tuning its recipes through constructive feedback. The result is some of the most well-executed desserts of its genre, not only in Uptown but much of Petaling Jaya.
Aftermeal's signature dessert is its selection of kakigori, the Japanese shaved ice speciality that's a beautiful balm on hot, humid days. The flagship kakigori is the Iron Lady milk tea kakigori - as its name suggests, Tieguanyin oolong tea is showcased in this kakigori, an alluring avalanche crafted out of ice blocks finely spun off the blade of a Taiwanese-built shaved ice maker.
Aftermeal infuses the tea throughout the fluffy and feathery shaved ice, as light and soft as the first fall of snow - this means that you'll taste the Tieguanyin in every spoonful of the kakigori; Aftermeal even makes the extra effort to tweak the recipe according to the strength of each batch of tea.
There's more to explore for future expeditions here, including the Malaysian-inflected Horlicks kakigori with peanut buttercup ice cream, Dark Milo kakigori (with 'super thick' Milo cream) and Durian-&-Coconut fresh...
