Standard pricing. 2 ramens and 2 green teas cost about RM50. I think their specialty is chicken broth. We got Toripaitan Spicy Shio and Extreme Special. Both ramens were recommended by their staff. So, for the spicy shio, it is served in thick broth. Upon tasting the soup base, it reminds me of the chicken fat from Hainanese Chicken Rice (if you get what I mean). For me, I think it is an acquired taste. Bear in mind, my first taste test is without mixing the soup with the spicy sambal. After mixing, personally I felt that the rich fatty soup has become more tolerable. Next, I went for the ramen. Due to the ramen had bath in the premium chicken fat broth earlier, there's still some lingering fatty taste left on the noodles. There's a slice of chicken. It was steamed and it taste like chicken. So, yeah. No complaints there. I then tasted the second ramen, Extreme Special. The broth is also thick. But then I noticed that this soup base tasted less chicken-ly compared to the former. After the initial taste test, this broth is somewhat subtle and can be said soothing for the soul. I do note that the Extreme Special was served with a slice of lemon. Hence, I took a spoonful of the broth and squeeze some lemon juice. Personally, the broth is much better without the lemon. We tried asking the staff about the lemon, and they said that squeezing the lemon makes it tastier. Personal taste, I guess?Lastly the ramen was garnished with some mushrooms, fried shallots and spinach. Truthfully, this is first time eating ramen with fried shallots and spinach. But, I've no reason to reject such improvement. Who knows, maybe this is to cater to the...

For me, a good bowl of ramen (in this case a toripaitan - chicken broth produced from cooking chicken parts including its bones under high pressure) should be rich, thick, umami-loaded, able to stand on its own flavour-wise without needing condiments to please my palate. The egg should be soft-boiled - there is no other way to go around it but spot on soft-boiled - cooked white egg, gooey yolk - because as you take a spoonful, the yolk mellows down saltiness of the broth while making it creamier
I had Toripaitan Miso (Spicy) Ramen while my friend had Toripaitan Shoyu one. Our food basically ticked all the above, there was nothing to fault about it. Just enough saltiness. Good portion for to fill our post-cardio empty tummy. We also tried grilled gyoza and iced ocha - I guess those weren't their forte so let me just talk about how good the ramen was, my friend saw a lad literally picking up his bowl and just drank the remaining broth!
They only had two staff to handle customers but thanks to online ordering system, we were all well-managed. Customer service was warm and friendly. Our food arrived super fast within barely 10minutes I think
The ambience was very laidback, casual. They accept cards, no e-Wallet
Pretty positive I would return for...
Read moreEverytime I go to Rekindle cafe in Damansara Utama or affectionately known as Uptown, this chicken ramen shop next door is doing good business. As they are certified halal from JAKIM, it's not uncommon to see 1Malaysia tucking into their bowls of Toripaitan ramen here.
Their signature original broth consists of umami of chicken from Toripaitan broth, vegetables and seafoods from flavoring oil, and special extreme sauce. I still did not know what kind of 'extreme' sauce that they use though.
Many variations are available such as miso, shio, traditional Hokkaido style but I went for their Extreme as it's the most popular item in the menu.
◾Toripaitan Extreme RM23.90 - the simplest item with only a piece of chicken chashu, nori and spring onions on a top of a bed of springy ramen and then doused with the milky, flavourful broth. ◾Toripaitan Extreme Spicy RM25.90 - essentially the regular style but their take on the spicy version with added karatama into the broth. Perfect for those who want spiciness in their lives. ◾Croquette curry rice RM20.90 was divided nicely with half plate white rice & Japanese style curry on the other half. The sonny who ate this said good!
Ramen lover who loves chicken instead of porcine can visit them in Uptown. They have since expanded to Shah Alam, Puchong, Subang, Putrajaya and KL...
