TLDR: try once, never again. Horrible Price Per Value.
Ranking solely based on my personal criterias. Visited during lunch hour, Friday, 13/12/2024.
Environment: Clean and compact. Completely empty when I dined in. Mr. Bean is playing on the TV, low volume UK music playing in background.
Service: Very outspoken and friendly by main server Lee. Though, my requests to use any voucher (despite preregistering and checking TnCs prior to visit) was fully denied, not even for a drink, as it was my first visit. I also find that a server is usually ill-informed when they are unable to strongly vouch/recommend for particularities on their own menu's establishment, as after quipping for a 2-3 minutes about the batter ended up picking the worst one, onion Garlic. Mr Lee, considering you're the most experienced, please take some time to try the whole of your menu, I'm sure there's a staff discount.
Taste: Fish itself fried perfectly, light, moist and batter was crisp, even after 15 mins+. But ruined by the overpowering Onion Garlic batter. Mushy peas tasteless, thick cut chips were great, curry sauce taste like Japanese instant curry watered down. Apple Berry Crumble was probably the highlight of the meal. Lemonade was a treat, but half cup ice.
Price: my bill came up to rm100 cause took haddock(most exp), which i find okay, justifiable, you get 1 filet of the fish. Desserts, drinks all the sorts.
Portion: appropriate for normal eater, not very generous with anything. For me quite small, in tandem with price.
My biggest complaint: I'm already paying RM 100. I asked for some water and the end of the meal. Was not informed that there was going to be a charge. Imagine how irked I was to see a random RM2 charge for some water poured into my glass( per my request). Like damn, my glass was already half cup ice, just top up some water need rm2. Absolute killers.
Value: 0, nada, non-existent. Only tried to see what's the big deal of their claim to "best" fish and chips through awards. My observation is that it's clear why I was dining alone for an hour+ during Friday lunch hour. All the passerbys couldnt even give this place a second look. Not budget friendly, even if you were to take the cheapest fish (which defeats the purpose of going to a proper chip shop for authentic taste). You cannot find any Value whatsoever here.
Overall: a one and done. Even if menu prices reduced by 25%, still not worth. In this era, their bane is their value, versus competitors in same industry (UK chip shop). Taste is not so bewildering to justify. A couple hitches here and there, made my experience, 2 stars. -1 for Value, -1 for complaint, -1 for...

If you're looking for a fish and chip experience that goes above and beyond, Cor Blimey is the place to be! My recent visit was nothing short of extraordinary, and I couldn't wait to share my delight. Location Damansara Uptown.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were warmly greeted by Lee, whose knowledge of the menu was impeccable. Lee was not only informative but also had a genuine passion for ensuring our dining experience was exceptional. He guided us through the menu with ease, making us feel confident in our choices.
We ordered fish and chips for three, and every single plate was perfection. The fish was cooked to golden, crispy brilliance on the outside while remaining moist and flaky on the inside. The chips? Oh, they were divine—perfectly fluffy on the inside with just the right amount of crunch. You can tell care is taken with every detail, from the freshness of the ingredients to the cooking technique.
The portions were generous, the presentation inviting, and the taste? Simply unforgettable. It's clear that Cor Blimey prides itself on delivering not just a meal, but a memorable experience.
The ambiance was equally charming—a cozy, welcoming space that made us feel right at home. The attention to customer service was top-tier, and Lee truly made our visit stand out.
If you’re in the mood for classic fish and chips done right, look no further than Cor Blimey. This isn’t just a meal; it’s a celebration of British culinary tradition at its finest....
Read moreIt’s stifling and a mystery how this won an award and received countless positive (paid) reviews. As someone that has lived in the UK for the last two decades, was looking forward to a proper chippy. First of the fish they use hasn’t been thawed to room temperature before frying, so each bite of what’s supposedly flakey fresh haddock, instead you get little bits that clump together and get stuck in between your teeth, which together with the second point, the fishy smell indicates that this is NOT fresh fish. The chips are refried twice judging from the colour so have a greasy and rancid taste. Not the crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside you would expect. I doubt they change their oil regularly through the day as is usual practice in a bog standard chippy. This place prides itself of somehow having some British heritage but fails so miserably in the simple two aspects of “fish & chips”; if this was a chippy in any part of England it wouldn’t survive very long. It’s literally that bad and unsalvagable. Mushy peas were ok. I don’t care about pricing as long as it’s fresh flakey fish and potatoes fried in clean oil. This place has neither and to be frank I feel sorry for anyone thinking they’re getting some semi “authentic” fish & chips. I don’t normally post scathing reviews but this injustice and farce to simple, quintessential British cuisine needs to be...
