Stumbled upon this spot by chance while walking around uptown in search for another restaurant. You’re likely to not miss the bright yellow signage even from down the road. Stepping inside, the place was well decorated and featured a local Chinese-Japanese cozy setting, though it would have been nicer without the tables being left uncleared for a while.
Their menu was unmistakably centred around their chicken karaage, so it’s no doubt that it’s their signature. We tried their rice with chicken karaage & mustard fruity yoghurt sauce, along with ramen and plain chicken karaage.
The karaage was everything you’d want — large, juicy chunks with a crispy coating. Each bite was flavourful, tender, and satisfying, but I wouldn’t crown it the best (mont kiara folks, you’ll know). Their rice was served in the homely style of soboro don, and their ramen reminiscent of mazesoba. Both were really enjoyable, though the yoghurt dipping sauce wasn’t necessary as the karaage itself was good enough on its own.
The part that was the most impressive was the FREE REFILLS. They weren’t just token portions but full servings complete with the ingredients from the original bowls. Kudos for that!
Overall, the restaurant delivers their promise of being the neighbourhood’s best karaage. Would love to see them experiment with a larger array of fusion sauces. I’ll definitely be back for another round of...
Read moreSignature golden karaage is certainly a must try here, which is one of the best anong all Japanese restaurants. Crispy outside and tender inside with a huge portion, you won't regret any matches of the dip sauce but mustard fruity yogurt should be your priority for first timers here. Single unagin don is simply the best too with no fishy taste and also the unagi don you can ever expect. Shioyaki saba fish ramen set also another top option where they cook the ramen to perfection with a mixture of egg inside. As for the drinks, healthy eaters may choose flower drinks like Oamanthus flower tea and the drinks here are quite nice too. The shop owner also treats customers with great hospitality and care and they don't mind offering a little surprise and extras if you ever requested any options. The environment is quite cozy and even perfect for a party if one chooses to. A little up care on the washroom especially on the paper roll and proper holder for the bidet will certainly make the washroom a more pleasant experience. Also not forget to tidy up the near entrance area and also a bit colder on the air conditioning for a perfect...
Read moreFood: Ordered the chicken karaage rice, it was delicious! Total 4 pieces of quite big in size of fried chicken were given. Their rice/noodles is refillable too, but honestly I feel really tired of eating after eating about 3/4 of the portion. Smal eaters please be alert! First time trying the strawberry daifuku and I think it was ok, nothing really surprise me. I dont really like the tea, it taste a little weird for me.
Service: it was ok. However, the staff will not attend to your request as soon as you finished your meal, unless you wish to place another order. It is not suitable for people to chill and relax here especially during the dinner time due to the huge crowd and queue.
Atmosphere: personally, I found the restaurant too be quite packed and there is limited space and somehow not very comfortable.
I think the price is reasonable given the big portion and refillable rice and noodles. Overall, we spent about RM125++ for 4 main course, 1 drink and 1 dessert.
It is also extremely hard to find parking especially during the weekends. All depends...
