We've been frequenting Thosai Cafe since their early days in the container-like structure at their old site right outside The Curve, next to the then-Borders.
They boast a variety of over dozens of thosai and we've tried so many of them, and all of them were delicious. However, most of them were spicy. As a spicy food lover, this was great to me, but we also have non-spicy eaters in the group so I recommend asking them which would suit your preferences because the options can be overwhelming.
Everytime we go the staff would always be friendly and accommodating. However, the service was not consistent each time. There was once when the crew at the time was quite inefficient in communicating, many of the patrons received their food late and weren't quite happy with the service. My group and I were just lucky at the time because we were one of the earlier ones to order so we got our food in time before the mix up.
I also recommend the owner to ensure that at least have a staff who can speak both or at least either malay or english well, because I saw the staff having trouble understanding a customer's request because he couldn't understand either language, which understandably upset the customer.
The Masala Chai too was inconsistent. On some days the chai was delicious but some times the chai did not quite hit the spot. I guess this also depends on the individual staff in charge of preparing it, but it put me off ordering the next time, not knowing if the chai would taste the same each time I order.
Overall however, I'm quite pleased with the cafe, and would still dine here whenever I'm in the area. Hopefully they take this feedback into account...
Read moreUpdate 6/10/24 - So glad they moved indoors within Curve. Clean, bright & cosy. Still friendly service. Their menu has grown.
We tried their masala, special mix cheese masala & kolhapuri mysore thosais. They were all so good. Freshly made & packed with ingredients. Went well with their spicy chutney & a new sambal which was spicy & addictive. Also ordered Andra Chilli Bhajji & Gobi Manchurian to share. The latter being the best ever eaten. Coated with yummy sauce & crunchy. Really good stuff. The chili bhajji was average at best. Washed it all down with their thick & yummy lassi as well as awesome masala tea.
Have to say this is a gem of a place. Highly recommended for awesome vegetarian Indian cuisine.

Interesting container restaurant between Curve & Tesco specialising in all sorts of tosai. Pure vegetarian. No frills. Ourdoor seating. Does get hot & stuffy in the afternoon however enjoyable at night. Friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. Does get crowded.
Have eaten here handful of times. We tried 4 types of thosais & they were both well made with lots of flavor. Interesting mix of ingredients. Coconut chutney could be better however their spicy chutney was good. The mango lassi was great. Thick & yummy. Masala tea one of the best around according to my missus.
Overall awesome place for dosas. Will...
Read moreThis restaurant offers an impressive variety of thosai and snack options, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. The portions are generous—so much so that one serving might be difficult for a single person to finish. However, I did notice that the base of the dishes is quite heavy on sauce, which, when consumed in larger quantities, can start to feel a bit overwhelming, almost like it loses its appeal.
On the bright side, the atmosphere is very inviting, with plenty of seating options both indoors and outdoors. Whether you prefer the cozy comfort of indoor dining or the fresh air of the outdoor area, you’ll find a setting that suits your mood. The ambiance is complemented by the friendly and attentive service; the staff members are warm and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, despite the richness of the dishes, the restaurant provides a pleasant environment and a variety of delicious options that are perfect for sharing. The combination of a great atmosphere and good service makes it a wonderful...
