Battles of Indian Food Part 2 - best Chicken Tikka Masala ever!
I tried not to eat Indian as frequent - not to say that I don't like Indian food but my tummy couldnt stand the quick "effect". Everytime after the meal, big business ensued. Why torture myself? Still I gave in to the majority's request once in a while.
GEM Restaurant signage was shining brightly at night everytime I passed by Damansara Uptown via Sprint Highway. So we just walked in one fine Saturday evening and from beginning, the service was impeccable to say the least by the outlet manager who attended us.
◾Complimentary papadom which delighted everyone as most restaurants charge for this. ◾Nandu Rasam RM10.90 - came with a piece of flower crab leg, and the flavour was appetising with heat from pepper. ◾Tandoori chicken RM26.90 - the initial thoughts of overpriced poultry was quashed as soon as it was served. It was half chicken marinated in slightly spicy tandoori spices and grilled in clay oven. ◾Chicken methi Malai RM23.90 was a dish where chicken cubes cooked in mildly spiced methi leaves and thickened with yoghurt. Methi leaves are also known as fenugreek leaves hence the strong spice taste. ◾CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA RM23.90 - I didn't know what they use to spice up the sauce but I think this is probably the BEST Tikka masala that I'd eaten so far in my life. I had to steal few pieces of chicken from the sonny and asked him to leave some sauce for me. I wiped out everything with naan. ◾Mutton Roganjosh RM24.90 - given the price, I was surprised to see generous portion of the usually expensive mutton in onion-based gravy, flavoured with freshly ground spices and chilly oil. Love this but the chicken Tikka masala stole the thunder. ◾Paneer pepper blast RM16.90 - my love for paneer called for this dish upon recommendation by the friendly manager. Superb choice - the paneer was fragrant with flavour from the pepper and spices but didn't overpower nor too strong on pepper. ◾Garlic Naan RM5.00 was perfect to wipe out all the leftover gravy. ◾mango lassi was good, not too sweet.

Read moreWe had a small birthday celebration today at GEMS Damansara and I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the event. Special mention to Mr. Suresh for accomodating to the various customisation and suggestions on the menu. The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was beautifully presented in the buffet line and packed with flavor. Portions were generous and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I especially loved the mutton karaikudi, fish 65, bagara baighan, chicken rogan josh, jeera rice and panna cotta. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and service provided. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Definitely a spot I’ll be returning to...
