Went with family on a weekday to check out this new outlet of Kuro Japanese Steamboat. This is probably their 4th outlet despite the pandamic. Kudos. Looking for a parking in this area of Uptown was a real nightmare. After circling round a few times, decide to park at the multi storey car park and just walk over. Best decision ever. Upon walking in from the hot sun, the ambience of this Japanese steamboat restaurant is truly zen and authentic. Just love the ambience so much, puts you in a relaxing mood and transport one back to good old Japanese zen style. The choice of food on the menu was pretty extensive, spoilt for choise. We decided on the buffet and choices of beef and pork. The meat was fresh and thinly sliced, exactly the way I like it for steam boat. The broth we picked was Japanese curry and spicy Kuro broth. Love both broth but my favourite is the spicy Kuro broth. The buffet bar gave a wide variety of mushrooms, fresh vegetables and all sorts of steam boat condiments. Must try everything. All so fresh and yum. Do not miss the garlic fried rice, best eaten with a sprinkling of spicy fried garlic. So yum! The variety of sauces is fantastic. Just love the spicy sambal sauce and the spicy fried garlic so much, perfect eating with the quick dip meat. Finally top of with Haagan Das ice cream and some cold green tea or soya bean drink. It was a perfect lunch..the service is excellent. The staffs were helpful and...
Read moreWent for dinner with colleagues on a Tuesday night. The restaurant is on the first floor, with the entrance not obvious. We almost walked past it. The elevator is a bit scary going up, it scared us to use it again to leave.
Food selection wise it’s limited in terms of choices, lesser than other more known steamboat buffet restaurants. There are only 6 sauces which left to be desired. The meat has 3 different cuts for pork and beef, with a unique beef tongue to be ordered. Wagyu on the other hand it’s premium and need to add on price if ordered.
Soup selection need to pay premium RM18 for 1 soup and RM25 for 2 soups with selected soup base like tomato, collagen, mala. We ordered kuro broth (which is pork bone broth) and sukiyaki (which is overly sweet I feel).
The best thing would be the desserts, with free flow Haagen Dazs ice cream. However there are only 4 choices which excludes the mainstream taste like vanilla and chocolate. The flavours offered are mango, salted caramel, caramel biscuit and strawberry.
TLDR; best is free flow ice cream and meat selections. Prefer to go other japanese steamboat buffets that offer more selections of steamboat dishes and...
Read moreMost of the 5 stars are from the staff members or friends of this place! Do NOT believe the videos from influencers and ads promoting this place. Service attitude was terrible. The staff members there seem to get annoyed whenever new customer walks in.
Food isn’t as up to par as expected when customers are paying premium price for steamboat buffet. The meats are sliced so thinly that it breaks apart when you try picking it up.
Arrived at 9pm, your store states business hours are until 11pm. But it seems like the staff members are appalled that I came at this hour.
Every time I came up to refill my green tea, get more condiments or get more side dishes, the staff members will look at you like it is a hassle for them that we are still here and eating.
Only 1 female staff member was attentive and respectful towards customer while the other male staff members are rude, inattentive and uninterested in assisting customers. One of them even fell asleep leaning on the wall.
Overall, my first time visiting and I had high hopes. But the bad service provided and the below average quality of the food paired with the premium price tag concludes to not worth it and...
