I finally got to try this famous nasi lemak spot after hearing so much about it! It was a bit of a lucky accident—we had just picked up my sister from the airport and happened to pass by, saw the shop, and decided to stop and eat.
It was our first time there so we weren't sure how the process worked. My brother went in to ask, and the staff kindly told us no need to queue, just asked how many of us and helped us find seats by joining a table. Super helpful!
We were seated next to a friendly couple who overheard us discussing what to order, and they recommended the ayam goreng nasi lemak—which we went for, along with ayam rendang and a Village Park coffee set. While waiting, we went to the counter and saw some kuehs and prawns that looked great, so we added those too. One of the kuehs was introduced to us as “kaduri”? But it tasted more like kuih kosui to me—not 100% sure what it was, but it was delicious!
The food was AMAZING. The fried chicken was incredibly fresh, juicy, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The crunchy bits on top (coconut flakes?) were super satisfying. The kuehs were also perfect—just the right sweetness and texture. Prawns were fresh and tasty too. Honestly, every bite was a joy.
We also couldn’t help discussing how some online reviews were really divided—some people loved it, others didn’t. One review even said Village Park nasi lemak is similar to Oriental Kopi’s… I’m sorry but WHAT?! There’s a huge difference! Oriental Kopi’s nasi lemak doesn’t even come close—it’s overpriced and not nearly as tasty. I seriously wonder if that reviewer was a secret promoter for them!
Also, we noticed later that there was a long line forming outside—we honestly didn’t realize how lucky we were to get seated so quickly. If we accidentally skipped the line or did anything that looked like we cut in… we’re really sorry! Definitely not intentional, though I think we didn’t? Since no one looked upset… oops!
Although the place was super packed and buzzing with people, it didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. The staff handled the crowd well, and the vibe was lively but not stressful. That said—just be mentally prepared to share tables unless your group fills one perfectly. It’s probably something you’ll have to do every time unless you’re really lucky!
Great food, friendly staff, lucky experience—definitely...
Read moreThis is an eat-and-go type of restaurant where time and efficiency take centre stage. Spanning three shop lots, the first serves as the bustling main entrance- packed with Grab riders, online order pick-ups, food sorting, and a long queue of customers waiting to pay. Staff weave expertly through the crowd, navigating between colleagues and patrons either searching for a seat or heading out after their meal.
The second and third shop lots are dedicated dining areas, with additional seating upstairs if the ground floor is full. The vibe is very casual and no frills. Be prepared to sit side by side and share long communal tables with other diners- a reflection of the restaurant’s high turnover and fast-paced setup.
The food here is excellent and has remained consistently so for decades. The rice has a rich, aromatic flavour; the fried chicken is always perfectly cooked (flavourful, moist, and beautifully golden brown) dusted with coconut seasoned with the chicken and the rendang is full-bodied deep, rich flavour with a kick of spice. Portions are standard and always perfectly consistent. It’s no wonder the signature fried chicken nasi lemak and rendang nasi lemak sit proudly at the top of the menu. Price is reasonable for the quality you get.
Be prepared to wait! Parking and table availability can test your patience, but the food is well worth it. If you’re short on time or not keen on queuing, takeaway is a great alternative. Service is impressively quick and efficient- you’ll be in and out before you know it!- The business is run like a well oiled machine.
That said, with the recent spike in COVID cases, and having had four friends and family members contract the latest strain, it’s a pity there’s no open-air seating. The entire restaurant is enclosed and fully indoors, which may be a concern for those more cautious about indoor dining- I highly recommend take away if that’s the case.
This isn’t the place to linger- it’s always busy, with rapid customer turnover, especially during lunch and peak hours. Besides the long wait for a table, if you’re after a quick, satisfying, and reliably good meal, this spot...

Located in the bustling area of Damansara Utama, this place has become legendary for its Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng. It’s one of those spots that consistently has a crowd, and for good reason.
Village Park started as a humble establishment but has grown into a well-known name over the years.
It’s been around for over two decades and has seen its fair share of accolades and high-profile visitors, including politicians and celebrities who swear by their nasi lemak.
The restaurant has even been awarded for having the best fried chicken in town—a title it absolutely deserves.
The star of the show here is undoubtedly the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng.
Priced at RM12.30, the dish includes a generous portion of fragrant coconut rice, perfectly crispy fried chicken, spicy sambal, crunchy peanuts, and fried anchovies.
The chicken is the real highlight—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. It’s no wonder people are willing to wait in line just to get a taste.
Aside from their famous nasi lemak, Village Park also offers a variety of other Malaysian dishes, including Mee Siam, Laksa, and Roti Bakar.
The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. The setting is casual, with a simple, no-frills atmosphere that lets the food do all the talking.
One thing to keep in mind is that this place gets packed, especially on weekends. If you want to avoid the crowd, try to visit during off-peak hours. But even if you do find yourself in a queue, trust me—it’s worth the wait.
Village Park has really cemented its place in Malaysia’s food scene, not just as a local favorite but also as a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience authentic Malaysian cuisine.
The fact that it’s been recognized with awards and visited by famous personalities only adds to its charm. So, if you’re in Kuala Lumpur and craving some real, no-nonsense nasi lemak, this is the...
