If you’re ever in Kuala Lumpur, a visit to Village Park Nasi Lemak is almost a rite of passage. Located in the bustling area of Damansara Utama, this place has become legendary for its Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng. It’s one of those spots that consistently has a crowd, and for good reason. Village Park started as a humble establishment but has grown into a well-known name over the years. It’s been around for over two decades and has seen its fair share of accolades and high-profile visitors, including politicians and celebrities who swear by their nasi lemak. The restaurant has even been awarded for having the best fried chicken in town—a title it absolutely deserves. The star of the show here is undoubtedly the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng. Priced at RM12.30, the dish includes a generous portion of fragrant coconut rice, perfectly crispy fried chicken, spicy sambal, crunchy peanuts, and fried anchovies. The chicken is the real highlight—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. It’s no wonder people are willing to wait in line just to get a taste. Aside from their famous nasi lemak, Village Park also offers a variety of other Malaysian dishes, including Mee Siam, Laksa, and Roti Bakar. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. The setting is casual, with a simple, no-frills atmosphere that lets the food do all the talking. One thing to keep in mind is that this place gets packed, especially on weekends. If you want to avoid the crowd, try to visit during off-peak hours. But even if you do find yourself in a queue, trust me—it’s worth the wait. Village Park has really cemented its place in Malaysia’s food scene, not just as a local favorite but also as a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience authentic Malaysian cuisine. The fact that it’s been recognized with awards and visited by famous personalities only adds to its charm. So, if you’re in Kuala Lumpur and craving some real, no-nonsense nasi lemak, this is the place to be.

What’s on the Menu? They served local “halal” dishes as such Nasi Lemak (their signature dish), Nasi Dagang, Roti Bakar with Butter and Kaya and many mores. What’s my favorite dishes? Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng – Of course, their signature nasi lemak with larges piece of ayam goreng berempah (spiced fried chicken). It has a light crispy crust and bursts with the aromatic fresh herbs and spices flavor. It is so crunchy and juicy! Yummy!!! 😋😋😋😋 How’s the service provided? There is table service was provided. Food and drinks were served at speed. Overall, staff were friendly, helpful and somehow attentive. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Is there any seat available when you were there? Yes, but there are not many seats available. Is there a queue when you were there? Yes, the queue takes at least 5 minutes before seated. Note: do avoid peak hour to visit the restaurant especially lunch hours. How’s the décor? It has a look of “Mamak” restaurant feels with plenty of dining space. It is clean, well maintained, well-lit and most importantly well air conditioning (Note: Malaysia is a hot weather country) 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Is it convenient to travel to the place? No, you may need to take your owned transport and there are very limited public transports around this area. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Will I travel to here just for the food? Maybe, the fried chicken is “finger liking good” Will I visit the place when I am around? Yes, I’d love to try other dishes besides their “Nasi Lemak” Final Verdict: I prefer to have Nasi lemak’ sambal tastes saltier and “Nasi” should also have more “coconut” fragrance. Overall, the food was still tasty. Will try other dishes in near future!

This is a famous halal nasi lemak restaurant run by a Chinese Muslim couple. They have been featured in newspapers and recognised as one of the best nasi lemak in Malaysia. Therefore, expect long queues. Luckily, they are quite systematic in crowd management and the queues move fast. They would usher a few groups of people in the queue to share available tables. The staff will take your order at the table and serve the food so that you don’t have to leave your seat. I ordered the most expensive dish, which was the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng. The focal point of the dish is probably the big chicken thigh. It had a crunchy exterior and was meaty. The berempah was crispy. The rice has a pleasant santan flavour, but was only mildly fragrant. The sambal was mildly spicy. They only gave a small portion of peanuts & ikan bilis. Diners are expected to leave after finish eating so that other people can take over the seat. There are 2 cash registers (side-by-side). One of them (closer to the door) accepts cash only, while the other accepts cards. The boss will oversee the operations in the food preparation area. This is a good practice and will ensure that the standard is maintained over a long time. I don’t think it’s worth driving from far just to eat this nasi lemak. It is difficult to find parking and there will be a long queue, which will affect your mood - especially if you are expecting to eat the best nasi lemak in Malaysia! Go with realistic expectations and you will enjoy a decent plate of nasi lemak.

Village Park Restaurant is a Malaysian local restaurant that serves Malaysian traditional delicacies. Their Nasi Lemak with ayam goreng serundeng is really spot on that we ordered extra additional Ayam goreng serundeng per person! However, for Indonesia like me and my family, their Sambal which accompany the dish is not spicy enough. Totally not their fault, every culture have their own unique tradition. We also ordered additional dish, 2 kinds of squid dish actually, the spicy and and the sweet one. I like the spicy one since they add a citrucy twist in the flavor. Kind of give the dish a refreshing taste to it. My wife ordered something that looks like lontong Sayur padang and she enjoyed it very much. Although I did not pay any attention nor do I had any interest in it since I was too busy with my Nasi Lemak 😁 Aside from the 2 main dish that I reviewed, they also have many other dishes, so there are plenty of choices if you want to give it a try should you happened to be in the neighborhood. As for the drinks, I tried their orange juice (freshly squeezed oranges without any additional sweetener), my daughters had cincau which is diced cincau with water and Teh tarik while my wife had Teh Tarik with ginger. If you ever want to give it a try, be patient, since there's always a line in this restaurant.

Bustling as usual. Had arrived at early 10am and got to get our seats without queuing. The queue was super crazy after I ate (attached last two photos). Most of the seat arrangement were long tables side by side, so you would sit beside strangers. Ordered the classic fried chicken (ayam goreng) and told them i want the ‘crunchy’, they understood what I wanted haha. The nasi lemak ayam goreng were served super fast, making the drinks that came afterwards felt like we had waited long for it. The chicken is super freshly fried, juicy and tender soft. Matching it with the sambal and the crispy item it is perfect match. I had ordered extra sambal too (cost RM0.80). The only little downside is that its not entirely a ‘proper’nasi lemak since the ikan bilis was not provided much (I didnt realise it till I looked closely to the tiny ikan bilis between the peanuts). However I would still give this overall 5 star as the quality is good, service is fast and the workers are helpful. They would ask you how many people and pointed to you that theres free space to sit. Overall environment felt like kopitiam, to be honest just come early else tapao to skip the queue. Heard that if take away you would have to queue at the cashier too, which is normally a long queue as well.

Let's start with parking. It's a nightmare. It's uptown, so that's expected. There's a big food delivery collection area in front of the shop and next to the cashier so the entrance is busy and chaotic. The place is literally run by foreign workers who despite their best effort are still inadequately trained to deal with requests beyond the standard menu. Knowing how Malaysians like to customise everything, it's inevitable that mistakes were made and orders were missed. With that, there were many short fused customers spitting dummies when their coffees had more sugar than their doctor's recommendation (I'm sure the doctor said no sugar not low sugar), others that came before them got their food before them, etc. Unpleasant customers are not the establishment's fault of course but sitting beside those entitled people will naturally affect one's appetite for sure. The place is cramped and circulation inadequate, floor sticky, toilets dirty (and two stalls only for two floors of two shop lots worth of dining space). The food looks sad and they taste average at best, except the fried chicken which is still fantastic. It's not the same village park from decades ago.
