2nd Visit: (4/5) Tried a custom order of combining the egg noodle and charsiew from the wonton mee store but with curry broth. The curry broth was very fragrant this time and went well with the chewy egg noodle! However the charsiew was too thin and taste very blant, would try to switch the charsiew to fried wonton next time.
1st Visit: (1/5) The Curry broth was a bit plain, the sotong was not fresh, the chicken was too tough.
1st Visit: (4/5) Surprisingly the Char Kuey Teow was extremely fragrant and full of wok hei! However they didn't provide the choice to add duck egg, the prawn was not fresh, and the small portion was a bit too small for me, should have gone for the large one.
1st Visit @ Dec 2021: (3/5) a) Roasted Chicken with Char Siew Rice @ RM 8.5 Average Chicken Rice, Char Siew was too thick and dry, the roasted chicken is lack of tender also. However, the rice itself was quite fragrant and I really enjoy it.
Drinks {0/5} Ordered a Kopi C Beng but turns out the drinks were the same color as Teh C Beng and unsurprisingly the drink was plain af.
Steam Rice with Soup {1.5/5} The soup doesn't taste fresh, flavouring was bad and the portion was...
This rating is for the Grilled Fish stall only in this coffee shop. The GF stall is only opened in the evening till late.
Ordered the grilled Sambal Stingray, which was grilled with sambal over banana leaves. Cant discern how the banana leaves used in grilling of the fish have impacted the final flavour but the sambal imho perfectly matched the charred and sweet taste of the fish. Despite the grilled fish appeared burnt, but the fish meat was still very tender with some of the edges crispy.
The fish came in 3 sizes, small, medium and large. We ordered medium without veges which costed RM36. I assume the price was fair as the fish was quite meaty.
Some customers had commented about the hygiene of the coffee shop and the roadside sitting area was infested with cockroaches from the nearby drains. This is an accurate comment and I personally do not enjoy a meal in the company of creepy crawlies. Hence, I pre ordered and have the grilled fish eaten in the comfort of my dining area.
Side note:- Order 2 pieces of Grilled Sambal Stingray! That way you don't have to fight for the fish with...
Read moreMar 25: This kopitiam has gone ridiculous when normally I tend to be generous when reviewing them. Therefore I'm downgrading it to 1 ⭐.
The seating is tightly arranged resembling a mamak restaurant rather than kopitiam. The good part is that all the tables are marble tops and well ventilated.
However this is where the good points end. Generally the food in all the stalls are average at best, while the Chee Cheong Fun stall MUST BE AVOIDED unless you don't care about COST. (Latest picture; 2 noodles, 2 bean curd skin at RM9.40). This must be the most expensive kopitiam CCF in Malaysia (I can understand if this is dim sum shop). And their coffee is RM4!!!
Never again!
Aug 24: The go to food here is the asam laksa, full flavoured and ample. The drinks are a tad expensive but the coffee has a...
