Disappointing Experience at Wagyukyo on New Year's Eve
We wanted to take a moment to share our experience at your restaurant on New Year’s Eve, as we had high expectations for both the food and service, but unfortunately, our visit fell short of these expectations. The overall environment of the restaurant is indeed beautiful, with a charming interior that immediately caught our attention. We also appreciated that your establishment offers affordable pricing compared to other yakiniku spots in the area. However, despite these positive aspects, we left feeling quite disappointed by the service we received.
Upon our arrival, we were informed that we would be seated temporarily at a large table near the entrance, with the promise that we would be moved to a bench seat once the guest left. While we understood the need to make this adjustment, after the guest left and multiple other tables were vacated, we were never moved. To make matters worse, no one informed us that we would not be relocated. It was frustrating to feel overlooked while other guests were consistently seated at the bench table.
Additionally, during the ordering process, we were not offered any recommendations or guidance, which was particularly challenging as first-time diners. When the food arrived, there was no explanation about how to begin or how the dishes were meant to be enjoyed. We had to ask one of the staff for assistance, and we felt that some basic guidance could have enhanced our experience.
To make the situation worse, the service felt rushed. At one point, a staff member attempted to clear our table even though we still had unfinished food. We were not asked if we were ready to finish, which left us feeling uncomfortable.
The entire experience was particularly disappointing given that it was New Year’s Eve, a time we had hoped to enjoy a special evening. It felt as though we were not given the same level of attention as other tables around us, who seemed to receive more personalized service.
I hope you take this feedback constructively, as we genuinely wanted to enjoy our meal at Wagyukyo. We understand that busy nights can present challenges, but we feel that the service on this occasion did not meet the standard that the restaurant’s ambiance and...

Atmosphere: The place has been designed, thoughtfully planned, and furnished well. Despite the small space, they’ve made the most of it to allow people to sit, relax, and enjoy the hearty meals served. The lighting has also been carefully considered and arranged to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The added 'windows' design and excellent acoustics make us feel like we are in Japan, rather than in the bustling traffic of Damansara Uptown.
Service: The staff are incredibly friendly, especially the owner, Zach, and his wonderful and charming chef. They take their time to explain the food and even teach you how to eat it properly—details that most establishments overlook. They are generous with their portions, allowing you to fully enjoy the food.
Even though the waiters are not local and their command of English is limited, they do their very best to communicate and provide exceptional service.
Food: Ultimately, the food is the most important part of the experience. I give it a 10. It's important to understand that there are many types of Wagyu beef available, and I believe you can find the best here at WagyuKyo. They select the finest cuts to give you the best opportunity to enjoy not only the top meat in town but also the best overall dining experience.
As for the portion sizes, they strike a perfect balance—not too much, not too little, ensuring the best experience. I highly recommend the buffet as it’s the best way to enjoy all the different cuts.
Conclusion: For me, this is the best place in town to enjoy great Wagyu beef in Malaysia. YOU JUST...
Read moreFour of us ordered the signature set for 4 pax (RM638) which came with 5 cuts of beef totalling 600g and subsequently added 2 more orders of our favourite orders for the night - the chateaubriand and kata bara. Even though the kata bara was labelled as lean cut, we felt it had just the right amount of fat and sufficiently tender. The chateaubriand on the other hand was extremely tender (I could cut it into smaller pieces using just my chopsticks) and had very very nice beef flavour. Somehow only 2 kenkori eggs were given for a set meant for 4 pax, which meant that 2 persons would have to share each egg dipping sauce.. don't think 2 additional eggs would affect their profit margin much. Another thing was that the staff was quite hesitant to assist us in the cooking when we asked so we decided to do it ourselves.
We were the only diners on a Friday evening - not sure how do they sustain their business and keep their meat fresh, although we had no issue with the freshness during our meal. Total bill came up to around RM1.8k with a bottle...
