Was here on 01/04 for the Sungkei Buffet which was priced at an early bird price of RM 50 nett per pax. Our party of 4 arrived around 7PM and we were excited to give the food a try. I didn’t count but I’m estimating there were about 20 dishes in total plus 4 types of drinks being served which was pretty standard for a buffet of that price. What was terrible was the fact that most of the foods were not refilled - during the duration that we were there (until about 8:30PM), we only saw about 3-4 dishes being refilled ONCE and the remaining dishes were left with empty trays… not even the drinks or fruits or desserts were topped up. A number of patrons kept waiting for dishes like satay to be topped up but to no avail. The restaurant was stated to open until 10PM and there was no time limit on the buffet but according to the staff, dishes would only be refilled until 8-8:30PM which seemed fair to reduce food wastage but during that 1-2 hour duration from when the buffet began, to only top up like 3-4 dishes out of the 20 items being served? Pretty ridiculous tbh. Not to mention even the drinks weren’t even topped up… when the drinks ran out, the staff just took away the dispensers and left an empty table. And whilst we were finishing up our meal and drinks, the servers simply came to our table and started clearing our glasses even when we weren’t done with our drinks. Management, please do better. I understand you’re doing a promotional rate for the buffet but I can guarantee you we did not get our moneys worth of food...
Read moreComing from a Mediterranean island we were surprised to have even better fish here in Kuching than back in Malta.
We stopped for a snack but had to try as much of everything as we could (even though we had a planned diner only four hours later).
The staff were incredible, especially for a place that’s only been open for 4 months. Well mannered, extremely helpful, and understanding of our lactose issues and so kind.
We had the Australian asparagus starter to share, don’t be fooled by the name, the taste of this veg is divine. We also has the prawn skewers, slightly more spicy than I imagined but that’s cause I can’t handle spicy.
We then had the miso cod and the grilled red snapper. Both cooked better than I’ve experienced before.
The only thing I would change about this place is that it is branded as the restaurant of a museum as opposed to its own entity of extremely high standards.
Well done to all involved. We will be back in 3 days for sure!
Although we didn’t try them, they have an incredible dessert menu, just not for us Lacoste intolerant.
Lovely cinnamon latte with oat milk too.
A definite place to check out of in Kuching!
Price was pretty good too. Approx €80 for all the above plus drinks for...
Read moreNot gonna recommend people to try the Ramadan buffet. It was seriously cut-throat for paying RM78, while being served with poor quality food. I came on 15.4.23, Saturday, around 6:30pm to buka puasa with my friends. The laksa vermicelli was undercooked, with below average soup. The curry chicken were of bits and pieces and the bubur pedas is too salty and so on. Plus, if you intend like to drink coffee or tea in the buffet, you would have to pay extra charge. Some of the food that were finished were not refilled or only refilled once. I would expect it to have fancier food, than just food you can typically get at economy rice stall, since I paid for 78 and I'm aware that this place has fancier food as I have flip through menu before. And one more thing, they announced a few times that we would have to pay RM10 for fine if there's wastage of food. No offence, how do they expect people to finish the laksa when the meehoon is raw? Overall, truly disappointed with this poor dining experience which was not worth the money you paid. You can read the google reviews and yeah, the poor comments about the Ramadan buffet is very similar with what I had...
