When it comes to the topic of the best Kolo Mee in the city, this place is my top pick for factual good reason. Sarawak, especially Kuching city is the place where this legendary cuisine the 'Kolo Mee' on which cafe or kopitiam produced the best of all are undeniable highly disputed amongst local foodies. As for my selection why I pick Mee Sin Cafe is because of its conservatives serving of their various line of Kolo Mee. Looking back to the old days where Kolo Mee are served simple not with too many contemporary add-ons and that aroma of the dish where you hardly forget. Mee Sin's Kolo Mee are no doubt using nothing but fresh ingredients, where those can be enjoy from the seafood mee and you can feel the solidity and the natural smell of its prawn. The cook, the uncle that run most of the main proses of cooking the mee, he's the type of guy that goes into details in his craft. Smell the aroma of his noodles might it be Seafood Mee, Pork Mee, Mix Soup Mee, etc. From there ones can tell how perfect yet simple those...
Read moreI like visiting this local restaurant, the place is quite clean, comfortable and located on Jalan Padungan. I visited this restaurant at the end of April 2023 to coincide with Eid al-Fitr. It is not too far from the hotel where I was staying, just a short walk to this place. This restaurant provides a variety of typical Kuching noodles, I really like them. The restaurant waiters are also very friendly and fast in serving. I stop here every morning for breakfast. My breakfast menu is pork porridge. But unfortunately a few days later the pork porridge stand seemed to be closed and I don't know why. But if you like various noodles then this is the place.
The last time I visited this restaurant was at the end of December 24, I was a bit disappointed, because this restaurant no longer serves chicken porridge in the morning and I don't...
Read moreVery quaint, very local, no-frills Chinese-style noodles in an old coffeeshop, very much authentic old Kuching. The Foochow owner has been plying his trade for decades with his son now following in his footsteps. Locals of all kinds drop by for their noodles, including a few variations of kolo mee (seafood, chicken, pork varieties available), wanton dumplings, rice porridge and foochow-style vermicelli in chicken soup (mee sua). My personal favourite is the hokkien-style beef noodles, in a generous portion with braised beef slices and accompanied by a piping hot bowl of broth with blanched bean sprouts. The owner makes his own vinegary chilli sauce so be sure to dip. Best to go elsewhere for...
