3rd Visit April 2025 [2/5]
Kam Heong Mud Crab Very poor flavouring and the crabs were not fresh as well, charging high price for small size crab.
Cockles, Claypot Oyster, Vege Below Average
2nd Visit April 2023 {2/5} Food [2.5/5]
Steamed Flower Crab (清蒸花蟹) [3.75/5] Great! The crabmeat is firm, tender, and juicy, but unfortunately has a slightly fishy taste.
Buttermilk Mud Crab with Chinese Steamed Bun “Mantou” (奶油蟹和馒头) [3/5] The mantou was delightful with its crispy crust and soft texture inside, complementing the buttermilk sauce well. However, the sauce itself was a bit of a letdown as it had an excessive curry taste due to an abundance of curry leaves. The mud crab, unfortunately, was quite fishy and the meat was not tender.
Steamed Clams “La-la” (清蒸啦啦) [2.25/5] The lala is fresh, but the dish is slightly too spicy for me due to the amount of chili and ginger used. Additionally, the size of the lala is average.
Omelette Oyster (蚝煎蛋) [1/5] The omelette oyster dish was quite disappointing. Despite its high price, it had very limited oysters and lacked the characteristic fragrance that one would expect. Overall, I would not recommend this dish.
Crabmeat Tofu Soup (蟹肉豆腐羹) [3.75/5] The soup was hearty, warm, and thick with a nice balance of saltiness. It contained egg, tofu, and some crabmeat, which made it quite filling. There was no fishy smell, and the overall flavor was unique and enjoyable. I would definitely consider ordering it again.
Coconut [2/5] The coconut did not have any fragrance and was below average
Service [4/5] The staff, including the waiters and cashiers, were very helpful and friendly.
Ambience [3/5] The restaurant's location on the river provides a beautiful scenic view with the possibility of observing various wildlife such as mudskippers, crabs, egrets, and Asian water monitors (四脚蛇). If you visit during the evening, you can even catch a glimpse of the sunset if the weather is clear. However, the area is plagued by large flies, which can be bothersome while dining. Hopefully, the restaurant can take measures to mitigate this issue.
Value [0.5/5] The price range for this seafood restaurant is around RM60-80 per person, which may be considered slightly high, but still falls within a reasonable range for seafood.
1st Visit April 2020 {2/5} Very rude waitress, and get our order wrong, really lousy food but high priced, only the crab is nice and edible, the view is quite good and it you won't feel hot even you have your meal on sharp 12 Food 2/5 Service 2/5 Ambience...

Although we understand it was a public holiday and the staff might already have a long day, service was extremely slow.
Food was no better. The portions were small, and the ingredients were little. Highlights include Tilapia in Nyonya sauce (Nyonnya sauce barely covered the fish, and the flesh still had the "muddy" taste), Claypot tofu (SO little tofu, and vegetables in such a big pot!), Clams in Superior Broth( some of the clams were not properly cleaned as they still had traces of sand in them).
To top it off, the owner could not produce a receipt to us after payment was made! He claimed that it would costs 6% more if he was to issue us a receipt....

The days pick for me from next door at Choon Keat fishery garoupa at 2.5 kilos / RM40 perkilo and prawns at RM80 per kilo. I also added kangkung belacan and Fried Tang Hoon . The total comes out to about RM80 at Hai Ung for the two plates and as well as Salted Egg prawns and Sweet Sour Fish . Pretty good value at RM250 , naturally we couldn't finish it all and have to take away :) . I reckon this could easily satisfy 5 hungry adult .
I can imagine it's crazy wait during the weekends and peak hour , the size of this place can probably seat about 300 pax. It's Friday lunch , so pretty quiet with only about 20 other pax...
