I had grilled black pepper chicken. Hubby had meatball spaghetti. We ordered calamari rings for side
First thing that struck me as we entered the restaurant was the ear-buzzing acoustic. Not sure if it's bcs of the brick walls or songs playing off a huge amplifier placed on the floor - conversation became difficult to listen to
Service was friendly, prompt, and fast. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for quality of the food there. It was perhaps the saltiest grilled chicken I had to the point that my tongue was tingling. The black pepper sauce stung - over peppered. And the pesto and some sweet-tasting sauce (?mango chutney? Not sure) neither helped with food presentation nor balanced out the off-balance taste profile. The chicken smelled tad bit too. Still, the rocket salad that came with it was fresh, phew
The calamari ring. Not sure if it's store bought or prepared from scratch, but all we could taste was flour. Stale flour
For the spaghetti. Husband said the tomato base tasted canned and processed, but the pasta was cooked al dente
All in all.. it was a very unpleasant dining experience for our palate. The food tasted soul-less. As if cooked by a chef who had lost his/her passion... But because the staff were all so friendly. I hope they can...
Read moreMy recent dining experience here was unfortunately quite underwhelming, especially considering the RM180 bill. While the cafe ambiance is quite pleasant, there is significant room for improvement in both food quality and customer experience.
Let's start with the food. The dishes were generally average. I ordered a well-done steak, but the chef recommended medium. Honestly, I found myself wishing I'd just cooked the steak myself well-done, as the texture and taste were nothing special. The chicken parmigiana had a slight unpleasant smell, and the cheese on the chicken & pasta tasted very ordinary.
The customer service also left a lot to be desired. The waitress was far from friendly, giving off a vibe than someone welcoming you to a restaurant. Her manner of speaking made it feel like we were eating at a B40 food court, which really detracted from any potential for a pleasant dine-in experience. Plus, the method of flaming the cheese is very unprofessional for us. As my kids said, the flaming cheese can be done at your kitchen as its feel nothing special to do at the table.
Overall, while the cafe has a nice look, the lack of attention to food quality and a cold customer experience makes it hard to recommend at this...
Read morewell we finally got to try this restaurant! and luckily we did not regret! wanted to try for a few times but the signboard is not so promising 😅plus if you try to find the store at night, you cant see the signboard (it was just beside marrybrown btw).
overall our food was great and the portion is good! the pasta was cooked nicely and the spaghetti noodle is not hard. steak was great too! for a fixed Rm90, you can't choose the type of meat here but it is still yummy! price was really reasonable, it suits their slogan "hotel food with street prices" – if i'm not mistaken. we've tried a much more pricier place than this, but it's not really great. seeing their price made me feel sceptical about the taste of their food, but luckily it was really great. surely will repeat and recommend!
service was great too! our order arrives within 10-15 mins after we ordered. and the staffs is really efficient.
just the atmosphere is a bit off, it was quite hot (no aircond—not sure if the A/C is broken or they dont have it) and it's not so spacious. hope they have more customers so they can upgrade their...
