Nasi Lemak Shop ā 2nd Branch at Courtyard SS15
I recently had the chance to visit the newly opened second branch of Nasi Lemak Shop located in Courtyard SS15, and I must say, it was a pleasant experience, especially given the weekday morning timing when the crowd was sparse. This made for a relaxing meal without the usual hustle and bustle associated with dining out.
Upon entering, I was intrigued by their modern approach to orderingāutilizing a QR code system that made the process smooth and efficient. It allowed me to quickly browse the menu and place my order without waiting for a server. Service was prompt and fast.
One of the standout features was the size of the drink glasses. They were impressively large and offered a decent beverage that quenched my thirst without leaving me wanting more.
Now, onto the main attraction the Nasi Lemak. While I had high expectations, I found the rice to be less fragrant than some of the more traditional versions Iāve encountered, which was a slight letdown. However, the chicken served alongside was wonderfully cooked, juicy, and full of flavor, which helped redeem the dish somewhat.
One of the highlights was definitely the sotong sambal. It was delicious, boasting a robust texture that complemented the other components of the meal. Unfortunately, the sambal kerang left much to be desired. It was a significant disappointment as it was overly watery, with only a few kerang seemingly 'swimming' in the bowl. This particular dish could benefit from a major revamp to match the quality of the other offerings.
Overall, while Nasi Lemak Shop at Courtyard SS15 shows promise with its efficient service and highlights like the chicken and sotong sambal, there are areas that need improvementāspecifically the aromatic quality of the nasi lemak itself and the consistency of the sambal kerang. Iām hopeful they can refine their menu for an even better experience on my next visit. For now, itās a decent spot to satisfy your cravings, but there's room for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWith so many nasi lemak places buzzing online, it can be a tricky endeavor to weed out the really good ones among the rest. I particularly was interested in this nasi lemak shop (just like the name itself) because of the good reviews surrounding it and also recommendations from my peers who have tried it. Today I visited their new outlet in SS15 and I was pleased with the clean, cozy and comfortable setting. The number of tables should also accommodate the larger crowds in the weekends. We ordered their famous nasi lemak ayam goreng with an added serving of sambal sotong together with one teh tarik ais. The portion of the nasi lemak was sizeable with a ayam goreng drumstick and thigh. I first took a whiff and a bite of the nasi lemak itself. The aroma was noticeable but I felt that the santan and pandan elements can be amplified here. The rice texture was grainy but could have been fluffier. The sambal was in my opinion one of the better ones out there. It was aromatic, well balanced between sweetness and savoury and it also had a good body (unlike the watery ones). The degree of spiciness should be suitable to most. The ayam goreng here was worth mentioning as I believe each one is freshly fried upon order. I loved how the ayam goreng was served piping hot with a crispy exterior and tender moist meat underneath. The rempah and aromatics were good. The sambal sotong was also an enjoyable one for me. The love the robust texture of the sotong slices with a nice chew and the sambal was equally delicious. Ikan bilis here was also fresh and crunchy so that's a plus. Speaking of sambal, one can order for extra servings without additional charges unlike some popular places that insist on making you pay more. The teh tarik ais was a good drink to wash down the heat. It was frothy with a good milky presence and it wasn't extremely sweet. Overall, this nasi lemak place was an impressive one and I would personally rate it as one the best ones...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a terrible experience here. Informed the staff about it and they did not seem to be bothered at all. So I made an official complain to the local council and I was totally right. The cleanliness is at grade C! Which is just one pointer above being closed on the spot when the council went to check!
On the day of my visit, I was served a half cooked chicken which Iāve informed the staff. They were non apologetic at all and instead argued with me that it is how the chicken were served. Maybe for those who disregard basic food safety, it works. But not for me who see bloodied bones and raw meat attached.
After i insisted to have it replaced, the service is immediately non existence anymore. I believe the staffs had gossiped among each others and decided not to serve our tables despite having orders of almost 100 for lunch. When we asked for more sambal, we could not get a single waiter to come at all.
Then this comes the second finding. A bee or wasp- I have no idea. Could be a fly too. Found in the sambal served with their nasi lemak. This is just too much. We had to stand up and wave for their attention. Again, not a single apology for this incident. The staffs that came as if we were the trouble makers at the restaurant and the manager I supppsed, came and say they will replace it then quickly take it away.
The least we could expect was a little goodwill gesture or a bill discount. When we mention this at cashier he gave a blank stare and go⦠this is the total amount. Everything came to your table right. Guess thatās telling us in the face that if u donāt like it? Donāt come. Please pay up.
So we did. Paid up the full amount. Lodged an official report to the council and they get served what...
